What Dogs They Are by Rachell

Silk Kimono

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha. All characters belong to their rightful owners. Except  the few I sprinkle around. I simply do this for my own fun. I'm not really sure what this is yet. I have a pretty good idea I'm rolling around. Not my first fanfic. Cross your fingers I have time to update regularly. Enjoy! And R&R! Chao!

A fire beat against the confines of its grate, leaving shadows to dance  eagerly along the walls. Iridescent amber  eyes burned from the depths of them, lending animalistic quality to the figure that sat resplendent on a finely crafted throne.   Swathed in a blue silk kimono, her hair carefully framed to better define her heritage, The Lady of The West made for a fierce yet elegant picture.

"Please! Milady.. I beg of you to do me this great service...!" two figures lay prostrate before her, one male and one female. Both human.

Disgust set the Inu-youkai's lips into a thin line. She drummed her claws restlessly against the arm of her chair. What pathetic creatures.

"My daughter is from one of the finest families in Japan.. She is well educated, and even talented in many of her hobbies!" The man wheedled.

He was a worthless fool. Fat from his easy life, balding and with poor hygiene. He was a desperate man, begging hungrily for This One to further benefit his meager life. The Lady sighed inaudibly, gesturing impatiently for him to proceed.

"As I have said, the only displeasing quality is simply her.. Well.." A nervous glance towards the face of the young woman beside him. The overwhelming sent of shame. From both of the inept creatures.

A purple, splotchy birthmark spanned across half of her face, marking her cursed by superstition. Most found her highly shameful, men found her unweddable, her family saw her as a burden.

"O-of course you and your.. People.. Are above something like huma-"

"Indeed." The Lady cut off briskly, standing in one smooth motion. "And how do you wish to benefit?" She was growing nauseous from the smell of him.

"W-well.. I-I believe we could work out a salary to be sent back home.. " The pathetic thing stammered. "O-o course you'd receive all of her dowry.. And a generous one it is..!"

What a retched, sad being. Inhuman eyes narrowed into cat-like slits. To think he would live out the rest of his grossly short life-span suckling off my riches like a baby on a mothers teet! Youki lashed furiously throughout the room.

"Go." Dismissed, the woman before her rose and slipped away, never once sparing a glance behind her.

The Lady rarely ever paced, it was hardly appropriate, but briefly she indulged. "I will take your daughter into my household as my attendant. I will find her a comfortable marriage. I will even watch over her children when her life has ended." She paused, a satisfied smile curling the corners of her lips as she came to the conclusion that this was much more than a fair deal.  "In return you will deliver her dowry to me. And gain nothing." Claws snapped together, quickly extinguishing the indignation written across the mans face. Fists on thighs, his eyes never left her prowling form.

"You will never see her again. Nor do you deserve to." The Lady announced flippantly. "And if you wish to keep everything precious to you, you will deliver her dowry in no more than a fortnight." She turned, her eyes cold and unforgiving.

"Do you understand?"

Phew! I finally fixed that annoying wall of text! Apparently this chapter isn't long enough (minimum of 700 words) to be considered a "chapter story" so I'm working really hard on getting that next one up! I'm going to post it, review it, maybe add a few things, and see how I feel about it. I'll probably come back to both of them and fiddle a bit more. Reviews are much appreciated!

Lots of love!
