... Or not so complicated ;)
Interesting. This brings up a chain questions for me:
• Did Kagome actually kill the Lt. because of the attack on her brother and rape of the village?
• If not, did that attack actually happen and why did she really kill the Lt.?
• If so, was she there when the attack took place? And was she also, therefore, one of the women who was raped?
• If so, is she actually pregnant as a result? and would she commit jigai if she were? (or would she have been expected to if she had been raped?)
• If so, then this situation is going to get much more complicated for them very quickly...
That is my train of thought right now. I hope some of them will be answered later in the story :)
Nicole (Chapter 8) - Sat 25 Oct 2014
Well, I'm very glad I decided to re-read this part then. Before I read the AN, I was scratching my head wondering, "Weren't they on their way to Aizu?" ????
Great story, keep it coming.
*gives Kagome a virtual and fictional hug*
Poor Kagome. War is not a simple thing like a tug-of-war, you know. It's much, much worse than that.
I know he's going to say that.
Nicole (Chapter 14) - Sun 12 Oct 2014
I like this chapter, perhaps because they both had negative physical and mental reactions to their first killing... and Kagome is fortunate enough to have a compassionate Sesshomaru there with her.
Nicole (Chapter 12) - Sat 11 Oct 2014
Thanks for the clarifying author's note, though you've also done a good job painting Kagome that way in this most recent set of chapters.
I find stories set amidst real historical events to be particularly interesting because I know, in broad strokes, what happened, but I love seeing how authors set the characters to interact and influence (or try to influence) the events therein.
Nicole (Chapter 9) - Sat 11 Oct 2014
refreshes basic knowledge of Aizu
looks up Ishin Shishi
Hmm, inconclusive. Shishi was applied to both Aizu and Choshu-Satsuma supporters. Will we find out which clan Kagome is with? Was her story to Sesshomaru a fabrication to give her a little maneuvering room? Is Sesshomaru headed to the siege? Or is the Imperial faction still getting ready for it? If Kagome is with Choshu-Satsuma, then why would she want to keep Sesshomaru (specifically) or the Shinsengumi samurai safe and away? Or would that just be a matter of trying to reduce combatants on the Aizu side? (Questions are largely rhetorical, I can wait for updates...)
I'm definitely looking forward to more of this!
... huh, what? She offered him a place in the Ishin Shishi? *blinks rapidly*
