see03's Lady of the West
Picture information
Description:
Here is my gift art/ fanart for the wonderfully talented see03's story The Lady of the West(http://www.dokuga.com/fanfiction/story/7763/1) If you haven't read it yet, you need too~ it's not too long, but it is a beautiful story told from the perspective of Satori, Sesshomaru's mother and mate to InuTaisho. Hopefully, with this she'll start posting it here on dA too!!!
Spent about 30 hours on this piece, and so I'm really really proud and happy with how it turned out... and my eyes might be bleeding, but that's not important XD
This is maybe my second foray into doing a completely digital background, and I'm really happy with it, though I know it could be better. Also, see all those tiny blue flowers there??? I hand shades each one... and hate them with a passion because of it =_= Love how they turned out but how I loathe each petite petal...
So there are three specific flowers in this piece and all have relevant meanings for the character of Satori:
The Forget-Me-Not's stand for true love, a longing for loyalty, and memories. The Dahlia stand for good choices, gratitude, holding your head high no matter what, keep pride in your accomplishments, and dignity. And the Sakura (on her obi) stand for feminine beauty and strength, as well as transitions.
All are HIGHLY significant in regards to this character, which is why I chose them for the piece. In an ironic twist, not a single one of these flowers is actually used in the story, another reason I chose them~ I wanted to use the silent language of flowers on the cover to convey the different themes of the story without directly spoiling it by using key elements from the chapters.
Aaaaand, that's it for me :iconinurainbowplz: I hope you like it see03 XD
Character Belong to Rumiko Takehashi
Satori's Concept and Story Belong to see03
