Yesterday, I tried to get onto the site and all i got was random code. I'm wondering if this is a bug or if something is wrong with my computer? Can anyone tell me if they had anything similar happen to them yesterday?

The same happened for me while I was nominating a few stories; an error code came but before the site seemingly shut down altogether.

I dont really want to speculate but I think it was a whole site thing and not just for you or us. I'm pretty sure someone can verify.

I noticed also that when I did get on later this morning everything looked as it did when the 'shutdown' happened yesterday. So that leads me to believe that no one could get on, but hey, its just speculation....and I'm rambling....

My understanding is it was a server cable problem. Hopefully this has been corrected and we (crosses fingers) will not have anymore problems. Famous last words...

Okay thanks guys I was just curious. A cable really severed? Ouch that musta been a while in repairing.

I think what Poss meant was a cable attached to the server had a problem. It could have been any number of things that led to the cable going bad, but it would just be swapped out for another cable, with repairs lasting no more than five minutes once the actual problem cable was found (which may have taken a while).

Ir was actually a whole slew of technical issues. I would go into it but... its so boring. Possessed was right, it was a cable. But so much more happened all at the same time. It was rather, ridiculous. But all is fixed now!
