I personally dislike song fics in and of themselves, but i've wanted to see someone take the meaning of a song and write an entire work of fiction using the symbolism and meaning of a song -without- actually using the song itself... if that makes sense?

My challenge!

"At the beginning"



The only rule is that you can't use the actual song in its entirety the fic itself unless it's to tie up the story. (ie a dance or something). But rather using the lyrics as a prompt for the plot itself.

I do have a challenge going like this one, though it's for Weird Al songs only. I like the 'no using the lyrics' rule and in fact used it in mine too. It's got some pretty good stories if you wanna read them, you can find their links here.

I've never really been fond of song fics that have the lyrics in them either. And I really like that song. If I get any ideas, I'll definitely try it!
