Alright, I figured I'd make a thread about this since i've answered the question in chat a few times already. I hope is in the right place, but anyway:

A number of people have received this message:

Nice to meet you, how is everything, hope all is well with you.
My name is Madam Avelin Regato,I found your contact after
reading your profile I picked interest to contact you. I've
something very important which I would love to share with you
privately, therefore, would advise you to kindly write me back
on:(their email) so that I'll give you details.
Waitinganxiously for your anticipated corporation,

Yours,
Madam Avelin
Email. (their email)

Now, the Admins have taken care of this already, but i must stress, please don't contact it's person, its a spammer. Normally, I would have left this alone and had been done with it, but I've had to tell people not to about 4 times already today. It's is easier than repeatedly answering the question.

So sorry, I dropped the ball on this one...

I've been trying to delete the messages from the mail queue, and may have messed up the site emails again in doing so. I have another email into the host company to see what they can find.

As Velvet Sometimes said, DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS PERSON!!

This is DEFINITELY an email scam from the Ivory Coast in Africa. I was unable to stop this person until about 150 of these had been sent, so watch out for this!

That sounds almost like some of the faxes we used to get in the office a number of years ago. Something like an investment scheme.

the first warning something is fishy with it would be the horrible grammar, and word use. "Waitinganxiously for your anticipated corporation" ? Seriously? lol

Thanks for the heads up gals!

Thanks for the heads up!

I usually get the e-mails that are along the lines of I am from _____________ (name your favorite country/city), have came into ________________ (your favorite amount of money) and would like to share, please e-mail me back.

Things like this are what have led to my very strict-yet-simple policy regarding my emails. If it's from a name or email address I don't recognize, it gets deleted on sight. I advise everyone I know to do the same. Usually they listen ... sometimes, though, it results in things like my mother calling me at odd hours to ask me what the bizarre msg she received from a stranger means because she doesn't listen and is under the misguided impression that having a spam folder means her regular email folder is spam-proof.
