My roommate and I are having a discussion on geekiness in mainstream social networks. So she has asked me to ask all of you if you know who Cthulhu is, a fairly geeky subject. So be honest if you do or you don't and we'll see how it stacks up.

Not personally, he's more of an acquaintance via my husband. I have contemplated purchasing a hound of Tindalos as our next pet, however.

Yup- fully admit to being a geek. Used to be a gamer-geek and these were the sorts of things that came up in random discussion all the time 'cause most of us were from backgrounds that gave us different knowledges so we'd compare occult-geek notes XD.

Vote Cthulhu, don't settle for the lesser of two evils!! H.P Lovecraft is one of my faves... and I support the great old ones in all their endeavors. ^_^

Playing Call of Cthulhu was one of the best Rp experiences I ever had!

I am somewhat ashamed to admit that at one time I had a Cthulu head with pneumatic tenticles that you could wear and control via switchboard that you wore around your waist...

Yup. Have been a huge Lovecraft fan from way back. Have the story on audio book, in book form, PDF (it's public domain by now) and two versions of the movie (the old black and white one and a new one). If that alone doesn't make me a geek then the fact I've even been in debates with people about how to pronounce the name will push me there. I've also had, for a very long time, artwork of the beastie up as my wallpaper in the past. Then there is the fact that these... www.toyvault.com/cthulhu/Cthulhu%20Slippers%20-%20Large.jpg are on my wish list will. Well... this... www.toyvault.com/cthulhu/Mounted%20Cthulhu%20-%20Large.jpg is cute too!

Fun fact: All writers are crazy, to some degree. There is a reason for it -- actually making it through a novel almost requires it. If you love to read, then you\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'re continually benefitting from other people\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s craziness.-From Cracked

My roommate has both lost and yet won at this point. She lost the bet, believing that Cthulhu was not very popular, but she is greatly pleased that a fair number of people do in fact know what he is.

And she wants Phantomlogic's toy

When I was an intern I lettered a multi-story comic called "Tales of Cthulhu"

I learned what it was then. Before that, it was just something I'd heard people say when the elections came around.

I had no clue... but, like everyone else, had to google it!! I think the girl-child was into Lovecraft for a time - I'll have to ask her if she knows when she gets home from classes.

Guess I'm nowhere near as geeky as I thought I was!
