Welcome Back 

After waving her goodbyes, she leapt over the wooden well’s edge. Closing her eyes at the familiar sensation, she trusted the ancient magic to catch her fall.  

This is it! She hummed in excitement. Today is the day he finally asks. A lone tear swept her face. An arm instantly went to the defense to keep others from falling, too. Nope! I’m not gonna cry. At least not yet.

Chocolate eyes flew open as the remnants of the magic dispelled. Her eyebrows knitted together in determination as her lips formed a confident smirk. Feeling the sun’s rays hit head she knew her destination had arrived.

She sent a thumb up to the beautiful blue sky above her. Alright!  Even Mother Nature is on my side. She grinned brightly. This day can’t get any better.

A rounded pebble suddenly found its way on her head.  Looking up confused, she found him peering down with a puzzled expression.

“Are you gonna keep acting weird or am I gonna need another stone?”

Her mood almost soured, but she refused to let him win. Taking a deep breath she put on her perkiest smile. “Are you going to just keep sitting there or are you going to help me out?”

Amber eyes narrowed at the smug grin that graced her face. He started to retaliate, but his lips formed a thin line. Casually shrugging his shoulders he turned around and left.

She stared up in disbelief as the last few strands of silver disappeared.
