Spring Drabble Fever

Prompt: Missed

This was getting ridiculous. It was the same thing over and over. Arrows flew in both directions and every time they missed their mark, much to the frustration of the past and current Shikon Mikos. Kagome and everyone else, with the exception of an emotionally blind hanyou, knew that the true 'copy' of her past self was in league with the greatest evil to ever walk Japan. Kikyo cursed as her latest arrow missed Kagome by a fraction of an inch. This deadly contest had gone on for what seemed like hours until the twang of an arrow followed by a terrified scream and many souls shooting into the sky and one soul entering Kagome's body. Kagome smiled as she heard a faint whisper in the wind thanking her. "Guess I didn't miss this time."

Prompt: Waiting

The tachi waited for the 'winner' of the insane archery contest between Kagome and Kikyo. Most of them sighed with relief as they saw Kagome enter the clearing. Inuyasha, on the other hand, was between being angry and relieved. But it was clear that his anger temporarily won out over his relief. "You just couldn't let me be happy, could you? Especially since you're with that pompous prick?"

"Inuyasha, I-"

"I don't wanna hear it, wench! You can't get over the fact that Kikyo was who I loved. But no, you had to go and kill her!"

Sesshomaru growled at this. "Inuyasha, that is enough."

"YOU shut up and stay out of this! Not my fault that I chose to be with the one woman I loved, no, LOVE more than anything else. No your wench just wouldn't accept it."

The taiyoukai had had enough and made a beeling for the distraught hanyou and punched him in the face. "Now YOU listen, you misguided whelp. This Sesshomaru and everyone else knew that your undead wench was in league with Naraku. It is time that you wake up. As Kagome would say, 'there are plenty of fish in the sea'. Accept it or else you are no longer part of this pack." With that, the taiyoukai turned to comfort the seemingly distraught miko.

Inuyasha saw this and headed deeper into the forest. "Screw this and screw you. I'm outta here."

Kagome sighed as she watched her highly emotional friend. "I hope he comes back."

"He'll be back. He just needs to get over this."

Prompt: Excited

It had been several days and Inuyasha still hadn't returned after his little tirade about his first love. Kagome and Sesshomaru had taken that time to officially be mated and everyone else couldn't help but be excited and happy for them, especially Rin and Shippo. Rin was excited to have a mother figure while Shippo gained a more mature 'big brother' figure. The excitement grew as Miroku formally proposed to Sango and much to Kagome's shock and delight, Sango immediately said yes. Nothing could put a damper on this special night, not even Inuyasha's departure. Kagome still hoped that he would return in time for the final battle with Naraku. Besides, he needed someone ALIVE and accepting to love as well.

Prompt: Welcome

Today was the day of the final battle with Naraku. Of course, Rin and Shippo were left at the village for they didn't want to risk their safety. Knowing that evil hanyou, he would use the two either as hostages or pawns the way he did with Kohaku. They were a ways away from the village when Naraku decided to make his appearance. True to form, Naraku pulled out every trick in the book from taunts and hiding behind many demons to unleashing attacks powered by the tainted Shikon Jewel. When Kagome sensed the Shikon Jewel whole, she knew then and there that her friend's brother was dead. Of course, Sango revealed a side never seen before. She attacked Naraku with a vengeance, vengeance for her family and her slain village. Miroku fought him off with everything from sutras to pure holy power. Sesshomaru and Kagome fought like they never have fought before as they were now mated.

But a familiar face arrived, one that the tachi expected to show up since he had personal business with the pitiful excuse for a hanyou. Inuyasha attacked with a fury as usual. However, he didn't let his emotions get the better of him. He threw every he knew at Naraku, powered by both Sesshomaru and Kagome's conjoined power. Soon, the final blow was dealt with and all that remained was the intact Shikon Jewel. Kagome picked it up, simultaneously purified it and handed it to Inuyasha. The hanyou looked at it with disgust as he saw it as cause of everything that's happened; from the creation of Naraku to Kikyo's first deathand 'second death' to Sango's family and village being destroyed to Miroku's bloodline being cursed with the Kazaana. He refused to take it, leaving it up to Kagome to make the wish on the Jewel. And so, Kagome wished for the disappearance of the Jewel. Afterwards, Inuyasha received a warm welcome by the tachi, except Sesshomaru, who welcomed him with a smack to the back of the head. Everything was somewhat back to normal as they all returned home.

Prompt: Belong

Somewhere in the far East, a figure drew breath as if for the first time. A female hand put a hand to her chest as she felt a heartbeat. She looked down to see that she was no longer made of clay. She was flesh once more. No longer would she have to feed on the souls of the dead. But there was one question: was there any place where she would belong? It was getting rather lonely in the lone dilapidated hut she stayed in. Gathering her items, she packed up and left. She was determined to find a place where she belonged.

Prompt: Kept

Days had passed since the defeat of Naraku and the disappearance of the Shikon Jewel. There was a large celebration in the village. Kaede couldn't help but be thrilled at Kagome being mated to Sesshomaru and Miroku and Sango finally getting married. However, Inuyasha kept to himself in Kaede's hut, privately grieving Kikyo's passing. He, of course, was not in the mood to celebrate. Soon, a newcomer arrived and entered Kaede's hut. The hanyou was too into his grief to notice until he turned his head. "It can't be....Enju?"

Prompt: Smitten

This was completely unexpected as Enju, the sculptor formerly made of clay, was completely smitten with Inuyasha the moment she entered Kaede's hut. It was as if Fate wanted these two together. Why else would she made flesh and blood once more? For if the two were to mate, there would be no pups had Enju were still made of clay. Sure it would take time, but Inuyasha needed to get over the pain of losing Kikyo yet again. Enju was also touched by Kikyo as she was gifted with a soul or two from when she was a clay shell. They spent the rest of the day in the hut, never noticing Kaede and the rest of the tachi watching them approvingly. Even a sliver of a smile crept onto Sesshomaru's lips. Perhaps, there was hope for him yet.

Prompt: Loved

Time passed and several little hanyous with a mix of orange and silver hair and doggy ears were running around the village. Inuyasha was giving them chase while Enju was creating pots for the village in exchange for crops. The hanyou had never felt so loved by anyone, not even Kikyo when she was alive. The sculptress paused in her work to watch her mate being tackled by their pups. It seems as though they would have more of a handful as Enju rubbed her growing belly more hanyou pups would be on their way into the world.

That's it for these drabbles. I hope you enjoyed reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them. Later. ^_^
