I AM ALPHA

The battle had been going on for hours. Sesshomaru and Inuyasha had fighting for alpha status. Then again, Inuyasha was never truly part of the pack. He had been a renegade, a rogue when Kikyo, the woman he was courting, convinced him into fighting Sesshomaru for alpha status. It was apparent that no one in the pack, not even Kagome, mate to Sesshomaru and true alpha female, liked Kikyo. The only reason why Kikyo wanted Inuyasha to fight and possibly defeat Sesshomaru and become alpha was that if Kikyo decided to mate with the hanyou, she would become alpha female, which would be detrimental to the pack as she would allow her possible alpha female status to go to her head using it to abuse the other pack members. So everything was riding on this battle.

Sesshomaru was rather impressed with the hanyou’s tenacity as they fought. However, he sensed fatigue and loss of blood starting to take a toll on the whelp. Sesshomaru had several cuts and gashes on his body, but his opponent was in worse shape. Inuyasha was just too stubborn and kept on fighting, with Kikyo and everyone else intently watching. He refused to submit to the pompous bastard.

The taiyoukai then saw an opening and took advantage of it. He took a swipe at the hanyou’s thigh, bringing him down on one knee. Sesshomaru then used a downward swing towards Inuyasha’s head, which was blocked by his sword.

It took more effort for the hanyou to rise to his feet as he raised his sword. Kikyo was silently encouraging the hanyou. ‘That’s right, keep fighting, Inuyasha. Then I’ll take my rightful place as the alpha female when I become your mate. I’ll show everyone in that wretched pack, especially Sesshomaru’s little bitch who’s really in charge. I will not accept being anyone’s beta female.’

Sango, a taijiya and wife of the monk Miroku, looked at Kikyo with disgust. ‘What a selfish bitch. She only wants Kagome-chan’s alpha status. She isn’t even mated to the hanyou. Come on, Sesshomaru-sama, win.”

As the battle raged on, Kagome looked on with anticipation for her mate and concern for his opponent. She knew her mate had a half-brother, but she had never seen him before. Then again, Sesshomaru wasn’t forthcoming when it came to the topic of family. She glanced over to the woman standing across from her and the rest of the pack. Kagome sensed her jealousy and malicious intent. That woman must have been very convincing with the hanyou to make him want to fight Sesshomaru. She could tell that the woman went after males powerful enough to become alphas of their packs. She knew the hanyou couldn’t defeat him. However, a part of her wanted to get to know her ‘brother-in-law’.

There was one unsuspecting spectator of this battle. She watched intently as the hanyou fought her alpha. Sure, the hanyou had no chance of defeating him. However, the moment she laid her eyes on him, she knew he was the one. The girl looked over at the woman standing across from them. This must be the one the hanyou was with, for now. Although she didn’t have any fighting skills or special powers, the girl’s resourcefulness made up for what she lacked. Perhaps, he would move on from the woman and be with her instead. She knew it would take some time for her to convince him to see the light; that the woman he was with was wrong for him in every way. This woman, Kikyo, only sought power as an alpha female. But she knew it would never happen. Besides, those ears of his were so adorable.

It seemed that both combatants were bloodied. Sesshomaru had no choice but to bring out his beast while the hanyou had already brought out his. The battle became even bloodier as Sesshomaru moved so fast no one was able to catch what he was doing to the hanyou.

Soon, Inuyasha was held by the throat as Sesshomaru growled, causing him to drop his sword and demanding his submission. However, he couldn’t do anything as he nearly passed out. Sesshomaru threw him down onto the ground. The hanyou struggled to keep his eyes open as he saw the taiyoukai standing over him. He knew he could no longer do anything as he bore his neck to him in submission. It was not worth getting himself killed.

Sesshomaru nodded, growling in approval. He decided that Inuyasha would make an exceptional beta. The rest of the pack sighed with relief bore their neck in submission as their alpha roared out his victory. However, not everyone was pleased with the outcome.

Kikyo was absolutely livid. She refused to be anyone’s beta. It was unacceptable to her. Not only did she have to submit to Sesshomaru but to his mate as well. There was no standing for it. She would let them know exactly how she felt. No, she would not be beta and she most certainly would not mate with the hanyou, now that he was second to Sesshomaru. As the alpha couple approached, they both looked at her, awaiting her submission. Kikyo, of course, snorted and looked them in the eyes in defiance, turned her back on them, and left Inuyasha to his own devices, never to be seen again. It was just as well.

Kagome and Sesshomaru watched as the defiant bitch left. It was obvious how much she truly cared about the hanyou, which was nothing at all. Perhaps, someone else would be more suitable, preferably from within the pack. Sesshomaru looked towards Inuyasha, who was still unconscious. He walked over to him, kneeled down beside it. The taiyoukai sat him up and with his beast resurfaced and elongated fangs, he bit down on the exposed side of his neck, marking him as pack.

After several moments, he removed his fangs from his new beta’s neck and licked the mark, turning it into a red crescent moon. Sesshomaru turned to see Rin, who was deeply concerned for the hanyou. The taiyoukai was surprised at this as she just laid eyes on him during the battle. Perhaps, she would be a perfect fit for the hanyou, though it would take time.

There was more than one victor this day; Sesshomaru, who was victorious in maintaining his alpha status, Inuyasha, victorious in finally belonging somewhere even though he lost the battle, and Rin, victorious in possibly having the hanyou to herself. With that, they all returned to the Western Palace with a new addition to the pack. A victorious day indeed.
