"Watch this, Rin!" called Shippo.

He wriggled his fingers, attempting to bait a firefly into his palm. Claw-tipped hands lunged before tiny palms gently clapped together. A wide grin pulling on his lips, the kit trotted triumphantly towards the human girl, his prize caged between his fingers. Rin squealed, watching the bug spark to life into the indigo night. The cheerful lilt of their voices filled the otherwise silent camp.

From the sidelines, Kagome watched the youngsters with a smile.

And with the slightest glance in the Daiyoukai's direction, she could tell that he, too, was silently pleased.

Author's Note: This drabble was originally written for the dokuga_contest on LiveJournal for their Weekly Perfection Prompt #58 - bait. The word limit was 100 words, and it nearly physically hurt to write this. I'm going to try to get back into writing by using these prompts as practice. The other drabbles and oneshots I add to this story may or may not be in chronological order. I haven't written fanfiction in a long time...
