Why love? by amanda wulke
Stand In The Rain
Run. It was her single-minded thought. With all her meager strength she slashed through the rain like a bullet. Tears she could
not seem to hold back streamed down her face, mixing with the rain. While one might think that in such a situation one would
not have much room to think, but think she did.
She never slows down.
She doesn't know why but she knows that when she's all alone, feels like its all coming down
She won't turn around
The shadows are long and she fears if she cries that first tear, the tears will not stop raining down
She thought of everything and anything and anything and everything inbetween. An image of his cold golden eyes shook her to
her soul. Her body racked with silent sobs as her legs gave out, she could go no farther. Her love, her soul mate, her other half,
her torturer.
[CHORUS]
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, whats lost can be found
You stand in the rain
Her mind raced as she pondered the fact that she might not have gone out of his reach. What if he found her? Would he finish
what he started the shattering of her mind, body, heart and soul? And then she burst out into bitter laughter. Really, did it
matter anymore? Did she actually care if he finally smothered the rest of her? Then the stronger, braver side of her rebelled. We
have been through hell and back, she thought why oh why would we give up now?
She won't make a sound
Alone in this fight with herself and the fears whispering if she stands she'll fall down
She wants to be found
The only way out is through everything she's running from wants to give up and lie down.
Pulling herself to lie against a nearby tree she picked and plundered her life's story. Never had she been a normal child, no wise
beyond her years she had realized all too soon what the world was really about. Everything was nothing, and nothing was
everything. The point was that the way she viewed the world there was no point. For most of her adolescence she spent her
time wondering why and how one continued living when there was nothing to live for. The elders in her family shushed her
when she dared to open her mouth to whisper a question on the tense subject.
Then, they beleived that such a young girl should be alive and full of joy, and that answering her
questions would have put a stain on that. So she was left to brood. One day while in college, she met a beautiful young man.
What drew him to her was his eyes. While everything else about him was cold and arrogant, his eyes held a deep, deep sorrow.
[CHORUS]
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, whats lost can be found
You stand in the rain
After the moment of their first meeting, the pair had become inseprable. They explored every inch of each other mentally and
physically, there was nothing about the other that they did not know. Both beleived that they had found there point in life
wrapped in each others arms. It was not to be. He could not move on from his past, could not see the light at the end of the
tunnel completley. For him it flickered and then finally dimmed. He took his greif out in the only way he knew, by causing
others pain. While she had been shushed, he had been wipped, while she had been coddled, he had been turned away. His
forlorness was great and his anger at the world even greater. To her, he turned his back. Not physically or verbally though, no
of course not. The insults and curses flew hard and fast from his lips like knives peircing her heart, while his true thoughts and
feelings were under lock and under key. Flying even faster than the jabs, the blows bruised her soul as it did her body.
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
Stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, whats lost can be found
She simply couldn't take it anymore, so much confusion and sorrow marred her judgement. She could not think clearly in his
pescence, she had to go she had to run. So hear she was left; standing in the rain.
[CHORUS]
So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it's all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won't drown
And one day, whats lost can be found
You stand in the rain
