Holy binds held him fast. His strength was revoked, his reiki disarmed. Lord Sesshomaru growled lowly in rage, his eyes bleeding red as he stared upon the ningen populace. They would all pay. Every last one of them.

Some shouted for his death. Others jeered at his nudity. But only one stood silent. Only one watched in horror.

Tears glistened within her blue eyes. Her raven hair fluttered upon the breeze. Even from this distance he could smell her sorrow, her grief. Even here, on this wooden pyre, he could smell her pain as two men held her captive. And it was this detail, that enraged the Inu most.

“Shall we begin the execution?!” the holy man shouted to the crowd, lifting a torch ablaze with fire.

The crowd erupted into a frenzy of excited, blood-thirsty cheers. It caused his Miko to fight against her captors. But as the holy man approached Sesshomaru, she paused in her struggles.

When the torch was thrown at Sesshomaru's feet, Kagome screamed as flames consumed the dry wood.
