Summary: It is the night of the new moon, and a sacrifice must be made.

The cold and wet of Winter was vanishing. Spring would soon be upon them. However, to assure a fruitful transition, a sacrifice must be made. A sacrifice of the flesh.

It was the same every year; a beautiful virgin sacrificed to the Western Lord. A girl, usually of no conscience, to be used then discarded. However, this year was different. This year, the ceremony occurred upon the night of the new moon. As such, the beauty standing before him was no mere onna.

Lord Sesshomaru looked upon the Shikon Miko with hunger. She wore nothing but a sheer robe. Her raven hair swept up and held by a clip of cascading pearls. Sapphire eyes were lined with kohl. Cheeks vividly blushed. Pouting lips pink and supple. Heart racing, adrenaline pumping, the one named Kagome trembled in trepidation as she faced her destiny.

“My Lord...” the young Miko whispered as she knelt gracefully. Her voice was feminine and smooth.

Stepping in front of his offering, Sesshomaru's amber eyes began to bleed red with desire. With a clawed hand, he captured her chin. Then, with authority, tilted her head so their eyes met.

“Tonight, you will bloom beneath my touch.”
