I believe this is the best short story I have read to date. I could hear the ice cubes, feel the drink burn, smell the smoke, hear the laughter....how evokitive your writing is, and all in a few sentences! And I could envision how their relationship grew over time, fitfully but steadily--great work! Keep going in this direction, dense and rich in imagery and emotion! Thanks again for this perfect gem.
