Flame and Ice by Baronne Khrys
Prologue
This fic is a really good one that just so happened to pop into my mind after seeing the Go Home to Your Own Time, Kagome! episode of Inuyasha. It starts (kind of) in the middle/end part of that episode and based on Kagome and Sesshomaru's thoughts during that. Then in jumps to three years later, after Naraku had been destroyed and blah, blah, blah. She meets Sesshomaru again and his young charge Rin as she and the rest of the cast are faced with an even greater challenge than Naraku! **gasp** No more spoilers--just read it!! Sess/Kag pairing, just so you know. Oh, and, by the way, Kagome wields the Tetsusaiga for a couple of rounds in this story...okay, now there will be no more spoilers! Romance/Action/Adventure/Angst/Humor
Kagome stared off into the battlefield that had formed in between Inuyasha and his distasteful brother, Sesshomaru. She held the arrow poised should the white-haired fiend try another move to strike at Inuyasha. Miroku was off somewhere dying, probably, but somehow she could not manage to tear her aim away to go and help him. She had the antidote to heal him, but right now her concern was keeping the main objective in mind, and that was making sure that Inuyasha wasn't killed.
Right now Sesshomaru was probably a little pissed. She had stopped him and cancelled the Tetsusaiga's transformation with a single arrow--an arrow shot by a slip of a human girl! She glared at him. How dare he...he claimed to hate humans so much but he was using a human arm just to wield the sword forged from his father's fang. Her senses were on red alert and she knew he had a jewel shard in there somewhere...right on the joint of his shoulder and arm. Inuyasha stared at her in amazement and her name fell from his mouth. She told his brother, "Drop the sword now, Sesshomaru, or next time I won't miss!" (A/N Um, I don't think that's the exact statement she made in the episode. If anyone else knows, email me the correct one and I'll change it, kay?)
Sesshomaru stared at his half-brother's woman. She was not so much as a woman but a girl, and a young one at that, holding up her bow and arrow as if she could stop him with another one. But still, her arrow had cancelled the sword's transformation, and so it would be best if he used caution in dealing with her. He had to admit she was powerful, the priestess's reincarnate from fifty years ago, Inuyasha's other woman. Looking her over, he could only think, without being able to stop himself, She's still beautiful, no matter who's mate she is or what she is. Then he realized the advantage his thoughts had now granted his mind into slipping wicked thoughts into his mind whenever it wished only too late, and he growled inaudibly.
Kagome glared at the youkai, wondering what the hell he was eyeballing her for. His face was still as stoic as always, still holding the rusted form of the Tetsusaiga in his stolen human hand. If she could hit that shard, it would no longer be his and Inuyasha could finish him off. Looking at Inuyasha, she allowed herself, rather foolishly, to compare the two. They looked too much alike, both of them drop-down gorgeous, except for the markings on Sesshomaru's face and the dog ears adorning Inuyasha's head. Sesshomaru was evil, but that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy the view for the last few seconds he was going to be alive.
That long, silver-white hair streamed down his back, those piercing eyes, strong hands, strong body, that full, luscious mouth, delicious-looking if she cared to taste them...Kagome almost let go of the arrow in shock. AAAHHH! What the hell am I doing, thinking about kissing that venomous demon?!?! Come on, Kagome, snap out of it! He's your enemy, remember? You like Inuyasha, don't you? How could you be thinking about kissing his brother?
In trying to pull herself out of the gutter, she hadn't noticed that the youkai had taken this advantage of her lapse in attention to leap at her, claws extended and ready to slice. She looked up and saw him streaming towards her in mid-air, a look of absolute hunger in his eyes. For some unfathomable reason, that expression on his face, in looking at her with a complete hunger that she had never seen before, made something stir in her abdomen and for a brief moment she pictured him looking at her with that expression (but under slightly different circumstances) before reality kicked in that she was about to bite the bullet and her mouth opened to scream.
A flash of red and white blurred her vision slightly before she realized that Inuyasha had saved her yet again from certain death. She sighed as they landed once again on their battlefield and once again engaged in their battle of intense sibling rivalry. For that brief moment of female fervency, she had fantasized about Inuyasha's demon brother...and it had pleased her. What the hell was going on? What was happening to her?
What she actually falling for the full demon lord of the Western Lands, Sesshomaru?
