The Battle

Inuyasha leapt into the air. "You can't run from me!" Inuyasha yelled swinging the tetsuiga wildly. "I would never run from a waste of flesh such as you!" Sesshomaru yelled evading Inuyasha's attack with ease. The battle raged, it had started when the sun had set and now it was rising. Kagome had left long ago. She had gone to Kaede's hut to rest, she hadn't been feeling homesick and was considering returning to her own time.

"Die Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha yelled evading one of his half brother's blows. Even Sesshomaru was exhausted, though his youkai blood had proved useful in constantly restoring his stamina. Inuyasha had broken down and embedded a jewel shard into himself and was taken over with his own demonic energy. His aura flared eyes burning crimson...

Sesshomaru was graceful and strong, but his footwork was failing. He was becoming weary...then it happened. He lost is footing. "DIE!!!" Inuyasha yelled thrusting the tetsuiga through his half brother's stomach. Sesshomaru fell to his knees. "Damn you Inuyasha." He whispered before falling to his demise. Normally Sesshomaru would have kept on fighting...but under the circumstances of his weakness and exhaustion...it was too much....

Inuyasha howled in triumph. "Finally, the bastard is dead!" he yelled kicking Sesshomaru's corpse. "Good Riddance." Inuyasha muttered before trotting of toward Kaede's hut to gloat. Inuyasha threw open the door and howled waking everyone. "What is it?" Sango said pulling a robe over her shoulders. "Yeah Inuyasha, what is it?" Kagome said rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"I killed Sesshomaru!" he yelled sheathing the tetsuiga. "You did?" Miroku asked in awe. "Yes, the arrogant bastard's blood is on my hands." He said proudly his eyes still glowing an eerie red. Something inside Kagome twisted. The air was sucked out of her as though she had been hit in the stomach. "Why do I feel this way/" Kagome asked herself. "He himself has tried to kill me numerous times." She said trying to rid herself of the wobbly feeling in her legs.

She had started to pack. "Kagome why are you leaving?" Inuyasha asked sitting upon her cot. "I told you Inuyasha, I want to see my family for awhile." She said zipping up her giant yellow pack and slinging it over her shoulders. "Well I'll escort you to the well." He said taking her arm. "No, I don't need your protection Inuyasha." She said tautly. For some reason she felt hot tears stinging at the corners of her eyes.

"Am I grieving for Sesshomaru?" she asked herself wiping the moisture from her eyes. She trotted through Kaede's village towards the bone eaters well. She was walking absent-mindedly through Inuyasha's forest. The she heard a "splish" and a "splash" "It hasn't rained in weeks, the ground couldn't possibly be this damp." She thought to herself. Then some of the water splashed onto her face...it was red.... she gasped and looked down.

Pooling at her feet was blood, and it wasn't her own. A few feet away lay Sesshomaru's body. She gasped and ran towards the well hot tears streaming down her face. "A hole had been cut right through him." She thought sobbing. "I can't believe Inuyasha would murder his own brother!" she thought sobbing loudly. But under her sobbing she thought she head something...

She whipped around to face the body though it made her eyes sting and her heart clench. "D-Did he say something?" she thought wiping away her tears. She was silent. "M-miko." Sesshomaru whispered gasping for breath. She gasped and trotted over to him. "Your alive!" she said in a whisper. Her voice was gone...

He was shaking obviously in shock. "How could he survive that?" she thought putting two fingers on his neck for his pulse. It was slow and soft. "H-help m-me." He said wincing as more blood gouged from the wound. Kagome didn't know what to do. She had to do something, which was for sure. "P-please." He said swallowing hard. "Is he begging me, me of all people to help him?" she thought to herself sub-consciously taking her first aid kit from her backpack. "I have no idea what I'm doing." She thought snapping on the latex gloves from the kit.

"I should apply pressure." She thought recalling an episode of ER she had seen about a month before. She took a bath towel from her pack and wrapped it around her fisted hands and pushed hard on the wound. Sesshomaru winced and released a shaky breath. "Sorry." She said softening a bit.

Finally the bleeding stopped and Kagome managed to wrap him in bandages to keep his insides in. He wasn't shaking a badly either, probably because she had managed to drag him into a nearby cave and cover him from the cold with a blanket from her pack. But other problems had come to the surface...he had come down with an infection and wasn't healing properly. She needed to get him help...

She needed Kaede's help. But with Inuyasha around it was hard to get near the hut to talk to her. Everyone thought she was home and Sesshomaru was dead, there was no way she could show up there and ask for medicinal herbs than leave without drawing attention to herself. How would she do it. "Hi guys, I just needed to come to the feudal era and grab some medicine, I'm leaving now, bye!" Inuyasha would never by that load of garbage...

Then she saw an opportunity. Shippo was walking nearby. "Shippo!" she said walking out of the cave. "KAGOME, I'VE MISSED YOU!" he yelled latching onto her leg. "Shippo hush!" she said clasping a hand over his mouth. "Shippo, I need you to go get Lady Kaede, but don't tell anyone that I'm here." She whispered urgently. "Tell Kaede that you found a little girl and she is hurt and can't walk and that she has to come to her, okay?" she asked setting him down. "But why Kagome, nobody is hurt?" he asked looking around.

"Yes, somebody is hurt Shippo." She said giving him a little shove. "No please go, it's important." She said pointing towards the hut. "And I'm not here." She said warning him before trotting back into the cavern. Shippo raced towards the hut. "I hope whoever it is okay." He thought urgently. He flew into the house and nearly ran into Kaede.

"Kaede Kaede!" he yelled, "Hurry there's a little boy and he needs help!" he said pulling on her sleeve. "If he is hurt let me fetch my kit." She said picking up a black cloth bag. Shippo pulled her to the cave. Kagome met them at the mouth of the cave. "Well were is ye hurt boy?" she asked looking around. "There isn't a hurt boy..." Kagome said swallowing nervously. "Than this be a prank?!" Kaede yelled looking angrily at the small fox kit. "No, there is a hurt man..." Kagome said stepping aside revealing the wounded and sick Sesshomaru....

Kaede gawked. "B-but Inuyasha slewed thee demon!" she said swallowing. "No...he nearly killed Sesshomaru, but he is alive." She said sitting down next to him. "He is very sick and needs your experience in medicine, please." Kagome said dabbing some sweat from his brow. "Inuyasha cannot know of this though." She said looking up urgently "I understand, and he does seem terribly ill." Kaede said kneeling.

"I will tend to him." She said taking several strange dried herbs, powders, and potions from her bag. "But I must warn thee, Sesshomaru, this will not be pleasant." She said staring at him solemnly. He nodded..."Shippo please leave this is not for the eyes of children." Kaede said shooing him out. "Remember Shippo, Inuyasha can never know."
