The Moon and the Sun by Ayako Rin

The Moon and the Sun

The moon shines brightly

it glows pulsating its power

But none ever answer,

it waits for something unknown.

The moon can protect,

It can also destroy.

It leads both the lost

and those that wish to kill.

The moon knows no mercy.

The moon becomes solely darkness

but it can also become light.

It waits and sits among the stars,

watching the passage of time

while listening as the stars told tales.

Tales of warmth, of laughter

Tales of his beloved, the sun

But the moon can't ever see the sun...

He waits no matter how long it takes,

thinking of the days when he might see her,

Always, and always it is in vain.

The sun never sees the moon.

The sun doesn't even know the moon.

She hears occasionally the snips of tales,

tales told by the animals, the plants, the earth

Both think they've seen each other once

but neither can remember.

For a brief time as they rise and stretch across the earth,

they see a soft light before its gone and they settle in place.

The moon yearns to see the beautiful sun

As sunrise comes he fights to stay even for just a moment.

But he knows it is in vain for he sees only a faint glow,

before he is whisked away and hidden among the shadows.

The sun never sees the moon though she can sense him.

She is unsure when she sees flashes of white or silver.

Perhaps it had been only her imagination?

The sun doesn't yearn, she shines only in curiosity for the moon.
