Final Battle by inumaru_rapture

Holding Our Breath

It was the final battle. The group of six, two demons, three humans, and one hanyou, had grown in size to accommodate their allies. Kouga of the wolf youkai tribe had brought the strongest of his pack to aid in the battle. Sesshoumaru, Inu-taiyoukai of the Western lands had brought his aid. There may have been others, but none who stayed around once Naraku had shown up with his army of tens of thousands of youkai before him. The groups of allies stood before him. Each member was armed with as many weapons as they could wield.

Starting with the humans, Miroku, the hoshi, was armed with his staff, his charms, and he had a new weapon; a katana was strapped to his back within easy reach of his left or right arm to grasp it and fling it into battle.

Sango, the taijiya, was armed with her boomerang, a long thin rapier, and the weapon mostly seen on her younger brother, a scythe on the end of a long chain with a heavy weight at one end.

Kagome, the miko, was armed with two quivers full of arrows upon her back, her thick, heavy bow, a dagger at her left side, and a wakizashi (a sword of smaller length than a katana) at her right side.

Inuyasha held Tessaiga, fully transformed into the full tooth of his father. He stood by Kagome's right side.

Kirara was transformed, Sango on her back, prepared for battle. Her teeth were bared, a growl emitting from her throat.

Kouga had a large machete in his hands, an odd weapon for a Japanese warrior, but he had found it and wanted to use it. His pack was at his back, ready for his command to attack.

Sesshoumaru was standing in his silent majesty, his two swords at his side. He had no need to be armed with more weapons than necessary. There was no need for him to have a third sword, nor any other weapons. His ability to turn his poison from within his poison gland behind his stomach was something he already had the power to do.

The allies stood in wait as the evil miasma seeped into the battlefield. It was soon to begin. A collected glace was passed between allies. There was no way they were going to run to meet their enemy head on. It was much wiser to let the enemy come to them. It would save energy, and they needed every ounce of energy if they wanted to win. But they didn't want to win... they Needed to win.

A collected breath ran through them all, each person holding their breaths without really noticing. It was about to begin...
