Chapter one

Beautiful Swan

Prologue

The kingdom was in the middle of preparing for a large celebration. The backers were all busy backing the pastries for the grand party while the tailors were all hard at work making dresses for the lovely young women that would all be attending. Everyone in the kingdom were preparing for this grand day. The day of their princess's birth.

"At last we have a princess." One of the men shouted from the cabbage stands.

"Yes, what wondrous day it is." shouted an elderly woman from the bread shop.

All the people were celebrating. Even the old drunks, who in turn were getting even more drunk. Horses were being cleaned and shinned. The carriages were all being decorsted with flowers and lace of all sorts.

At the palace, things were no less busy than in town. The house cleaners were scurrying around preparing for the many guests that were to arrive for the party that night. The chefs were in the kitchen making the evening meal and a small meal for the sure to be hungry Queen.

A maid was walking down the hallway with a tray that had a bottle of milk and a small meal for the new mother.

She knocked on the door of the birthing room before opening it. She walked into the room and saw her Queen laying on the large bed in the middle of the room holding a small bundle wrapped in a blanket. She looked up to see the maid holding the tray and smiled warmly.

"Thank you. You may place it on the table." She said directing to the table net to the bed.

The maid place the tray next to the bed and looked at the baby laying on it's mothers chest. She was truly a beauty. She had the most beautiful eyes that resmelbeled her mothers and small signs of beautiful black hair was visible.

"She is beautiful my lady." She whispered.

The queen laughed slightly while looking at her daughters dozing face, her eyes closing for a little nap. "My beautiful little girl, my Kagome."

The thrown room was filled with royalty from the many surrounding Kingdoms. The King of the Kingdom to the west was present with his mate and son.

Young Sesshoumaru was to be betrothed to the little princess. Though he was to young to know that.

He had a small smile on his face as he approached the crib with a little red box in his hands.

He looked into the crib at his future bride. Her tiny hands reached up to him and when he opened the box to reveal a golden necklace with a swan pendant she grabbed onto it and began to chew on the chain. The queen giggled and placed the chain around the little princesses neck. She began to play with the little swan pendant.

Sesshoumaru smiled at the little girl and put his hand in the crib when she grabbed on and nuzzled her face into the skin of his hand.

Sesshoumarus face was a bright red now. He looked at the little baby and noticed that she had fallen asleep still holding onto his hand.

The Queen smiled warmly at the young prince and released his hand from her daughters grip. Sesshoumaru ran to his parents and they both patted his head gently.

The crowd was laughing lightly at the little princes antics. As he burrined his face into his fathers leg.

King InuTaisho picked up his son and walked over to the new parents.

"Congratulations, my friends. She will indeed be a beauty." He praised.

King Higurashi smiled at his long time friends and nodded his head.

"Yes, she is the pride of the Kingdom and will one day make a beautiful bride." He said winking at the young prince who sat on his fathers shoulder.

Sesshoumaru blushed even harder than before and his mother laughed.

"Aiko, why don't we go out into the gardens and talk." Aiko nodded her head and the two Queens walked out of the room to the gardens.

The two kings watched as their wives walked into the garden and than focused their attention on the two children.

"So, when Kagome grows older how about she comes to visit the palace in the west for the summer. That way she and Sesshoumaru will have time to get to know each other and will hopefully become good friends." suggested King Taisho.

He nodded and thought for a moment 'and after that they will become more.' He had no idea what was going to happen during those many summers when the two young children would meet.
