A New Kagome

Chapter 1: A New Kagome

The wind whipped Kagome's hair about her. But, she didn't feel it, her eyes were glued to Inuyasha and Kikyo. Unnoticed by either of them as Inuyasha pounded into Kikyo. Kagome's legs felt like jelly, but she focused them to work as she walked back to Keade's hut. Her eyes were hard as stone and her mask of indifference rivaled that of Sesshomaru's. Entering the hut all eyes were on her.

"Gather your things Shippou we're leaving. Sango and Miroku your welcome to join us, but under no circumstances are Inuyasha to know we're leaving."

Sango, Miroku, Keade, and Shippou, nodded in understanding. Packing quickly they left the hut and took a different path to the Bone Eater's well. All of them held on to Kagome as they jumped into the well. Once on the other side they all climbed out of the well house and headed toward Kagome's house. Kagome told them to wait for her in the living room as she went to her room.

Her mother, Souta, and grandfather had all pasted away in a car accident a few months ago and now the Shrine was Kagome's. Opening all her drawer's she pulled out all her winter clothes and through them into a bag. Then looking at all the guns she had acquired over the last couple of months chose five of her smallest, yet powerful guns as well as three clips for each of them.

Kagome sat on the edge of her bed willing the pain in her chest to go away. Her was broken, but she know that it would mend itself over time. But, what so knew when never heal was her broken soul. She was broken and she knew it. That's when she felt the sharpest of pains in her chest, then she felt nothing. Quickly, Kagome gathered everyone into the kitchen. Each of them took a seat at the table, Kirara in Sango's lap and Shippou in Kagome's.

"What's going on Kagome?"

"We are no longer traveling with Inuyasha. If you wish to travel with him you may of course do so, but me and Shippou are going to look for the rest of the shards on our own. I will be heading west as so as we go back to the feudal era, to form an alliance with Sesshomaru."

"Why do you wish to form an alliance with Lord Sesshomaru, Lady Kagome?"

"Because he is a powerful demon and would make a good ally against Naraku. Besides, I'd rather have him as an ally than an enemy."

"What's bothering you, mama?"

"Nothing Shippou, I'm fine."

He could tell she was lying and it worried him, seeing as she had never lied to him before. Leaving the kitchen they all returned to the feudal era and started west. They made good time before the sun set and they stopped to make camp. Shippou and Miroku gathered ire wood, while Kagome went hunting. Taking the two now skinned and gutted rabbits to Sango to cook, Kagome moved to sit at the base of a tree. Crossing her legs and closing her eyes Kagome concentrated on her miko energy and formed it into a ball about the size of a tennis ball. Kagome smiled to herself satisfied with her accomplishment. Standing Kagome clasped the ball of energy in her hand tightly. Her eyes were hard and her face stoic as she scanned the forest around her for danger. Miroku and Sango saw her actions and prepared for battle. Shippou hid under Kagome's hair and Kirara growled before transforming.

"We're surrounded by wolf youkai and it isn't Kouga or Ayame. Sango, Miroku, you all need to get as high up as you can and quickly. I'll handle this."

"But, Kagome you need ....."

Kagome turned her hard blue, gray and green eyes on Sango. Sango paled under Kagome's hard glare. Nodding they all climbed on Kirara's back an rose high into the air. Once Kagome was sure they were safe she released the energy ball and closed her eyes waiting. Slowly, they moved in for the kill. They were standing, but a few feet from Kagome when she released the balls power. Her purification energy erupted from the ball, like a bomb. She had just enough time to form a shield around Shippou and Kirara.

Though her face remained hard and stoic, inside Kagome was pleased with herself. Kirara landed next to Kagome and the others climb off of her. They were in awe of her power. When out of nowhere Kagome whirled around, her desert eagle pointed at Sesshomaru's heart. Seeing who it was Kagome lowered her gun and walked toward him. The others began to follow, but Kagome shook her head no and they stopped. Kagome walked straight past Sesshomaru who turned and followed her. She lead him to a small clearing with a hot spring. It was the new moon, so the only light was coming from the stars. As Kagome began to undress she asked Sesshomaru her first question.

"Why did you come to us, Sesshomaru? For we no longer travel with Inuyasha."

Sesshomaru gazed intently at Kagome as she lowered herself into the steaming water. He undressed an eased into the waters across from her before answering her.

"I came to investigate the powerful wave of purification energy that washed through a small section of my lands. Only to find you at the center of it."

"Well that saves some time in traveling to your lands."

"Why, do you seek me out, miko."

"My name is Kagome, KA-GO-ME. But, I seek to form and alliance with you."

"What makes you think I'd want to form and alliance with you, miko?"

"I assume you know how many wolf youkai were surrounding me, an the fact that I killed all of them in a matter of moments, shows that I'm a powerful miko. It also shows that I have control over my powers and am a force to be respected and feared if angered. I think you would rather have me as an ally than an enemy, Lord Seshomaru. Now what do you say?"

Kagome had washed her entire body and was lathering her hair with strawberry shampoo, as she spoke. Sesshomaru watched her for a few moments before he spoke.

"What is that concoction your putting in your hair, miko?"

"It's strawberry shampoo."

"You and your companions will accompany me back to my home where we'll sign the necessary paper's. On the condition no harm comes to any of my staff or my ward. Understood, Miko?"

Kagome disappeared under the surface of the water for a few moments to rinse her hair. Upon coming up for air, she nodded in understanding an stood up to exit the spring. After putting on a bra and underwear, Kagome pulled out her lavender and strawberry oils an began to massage them into her skin. Sesshomaru watched her carefully measure out the same exact amount of each oil, before mixing them together and rubbing them into her skin. Kagome dressed in black leather pants and a black tank top with a black leather jacket. They slowly began their walk back to camp when Kagome pulled her desert eagle from her coat pocket an started running toward camp. Sesshomaru al noticed the bear youkai approaching the camp. He easily caught up with Kagome who now stood at the edge of the forest her gun pointed at the bear youkai.

"Move an I'll splatter your brains everywhere. Now who is sending all these youkai after us."

The bear youkai didn't move, but did laugh at Kagome's question. Kagome smiled at the youkai an it stopped laughing immediately, sensing danger it her smile. She walked up to it, the same dangerous smile on her face. To everyone's shock Kagome part her gun away an punched the youkai in his face. Blood covered her fist, but it wasn't her blood it was the bears.

"Now are you going top answer my question. Or do you wish to add a broken rib to your already broken nose."

Sesshomaru, Sango, Miroku, and Shippou were shocked by her actions. They were even more shocked when the youkai answered.

"We're being sent by Lord Naraku and Lady Kikyo, to destroy the holder of the Shikon Shards and her friends and any who get in the way."

"Now deliver this message to Naraku and Kikyo. No one will interfere with my plans or they'll die. Tell them I said bring it on."

Nodding the bear youkai disappeared into the darkness outside the camp fire's light. Turning to face Sango, Miroku, and Shippou, her eyes hard as stone. Her voice left no room for argument.

"After, dinner we are going to accompany Sesshomaru to the Castle of the Western Lands."
