Between Two Times by Willow-sama
Chapter 1: Kidnapping
The wind blew vigorously and thunder clapped over head. Dark shadows covered the earth and rolling storm clouds threatend to drench the wary with its tears.
It had been a long and painful night. The war against the Lords and the shadow demon by the name of Siren raged on. Their enemy had silently taken down the Southernlands soon after the North.
The guardian of the Earth, formerly known as Haku, tiredly climbed the stairs to his fortress The Time Relm Castle. His green robes and silver armour stained with caked on blood. His silver hair and beard dirtied from sweat and grim collected while leading his army into battle.
So many deaths in one night alone. He looked up into the nights sky. A drop of rain landed on his forhead.
"Let the rain come," he murmerd hearing others drop to the ground with a light splat.
He proceeded on after a moment the wind had picked up and the rain pelted down. Entering the large brass doors heavily guarded by The Time Relms personal guards he was then meet by the silent taps of slippers running down the hall.
A worried face met his as Haku's wife ran to him in a tight embrace.
" How many lost," she asked raising her head from his chest to meet his gaze.He sighed running a clawed hand through her reddish brown hair.
"5,000 at the least," her hold tightend around him.
"How many men must we sacrifice for such a cost?" her dark green eyes brimmed with tears.
" I dont know Mina. I just dont know."
12,000 years ago the shadow demon by the name of Siren waged a war, the Lords against the shadows...
making it a dark and gruesome time....
Haku stripped himself from his soiled clothes. Blood blinded his eys. So much killing and destruction. It did not bode with him well.
The Great Guardian of this ancient world, Haku, had no choice but to build up an army of his own...
Haku sank into the comfirts of his bed. His ears still rang with the scrams of his loyal soldiers who fought well by his side.
But Siren was powerful, and had brung down North and South which took down half of Hakus army. He could finally attack the palace...
Haku sprang up from the comfirtable folds of his bed. Shrill screaming was visible under a faint curtain of smoke. He quickly looked to the other side of the bed where the sheets had also been disturbed. It seemd Mina had left in a rush.
His heart lept in his chest. A blood quirtling scream rang through The Time Castles hallways.
"Mina," he whisperd throwing on his robes and armour with his unhumanistic grace and speed he ran out into the smoke filled corridor.
He found her in the nursery huddled in the corner with a wrapped bundle close to her chest. She rocked back and forth, tears streamd down her face.
Their son only but 100, stood protectivly infront of his mother. Holding back the gruesome looking creature before them.
Hot tears streamed down Shuri's face. He had let anger blind him and was awarded with a fist to the stomach causing him to cry out in pain while flying back into the wall.
With hateful eyes and fire burning through his veins, Haku rushed towards the creature, in one swip he had loped off its head. Not only did he smell the blood of the corps that laid motionless on the ground before him. He also smelt anothers.
"Father," Shuri gasped shakily standing up. His eyes sweld up with more tears as he glanced towards his mother.
All color drained from Haku's face.
"No," he ran to his wife. She clung to him as if he was her only life support and wept uncontrollably.
Their five-month old baby girl layed dead in her mother's hands.
Her name was Kiseki...miracle...
Hidding his brocken family in the Spirit Castle where their loyal friends took care of his sickend wife. Haku saute out Siren with pure hate in his heart...
Siren laughed wickedly dodging another attack.
"How foolish you are to take on Siren, the very shadows of Hell!"
Haku growled his okami-youkai blood kicking in.
"You hurt my family," he sethed, jumping for Siren but missed by an inch.
Siren chuckled, "Oh yes sweet revenge."
"You have hurt long enough!" his eyes glowed of an icy blue as he slowly turned into his true form. A gigantic silver wolf. On his forehead bore the guardians royal mark a dark diamond like shape while a small fleck, simalar in color, decorated each cheek.
"It has begun," Siren whisperd preparing for another attack. His blood red eyes burnt as if the pits of Hell were only a small candle flame.
When it seemed even the Great Guardian himself could not win. He sacraficed the rest of his soul and strength in atempt to drive Siren into the Fourth demention where he would be trapped and could never bring tragety to this world again...
so he thought...
The very shadow Haku had given his life to destroy had found a way to escape. For shadows have no boundarys nor can be emprisoned...
This is where this story begins...

The day started out as normal as it possibly could ever get...
of course some squabbling, a couple of sits and a slap or two was nothing out of the ordinary for our favorite heros of Feudal Japan.
It was a bright afternoon as the group looked forwards to a fun filled day. The sun was beating lightly down on their shoulders and the wind only but slightly blew. Tossing but a few strands of hair as they headed down towards the river.
Kagome smilled happily as she silently fallowed behind the group. Her hands completely filled with a basket, a blanket and a ball of fluff that could only be the mystevious little shift shaper, by the name of Shippou. He sat curled lovingly in her arms sound asleep. A toy that Kagome had given to him in the past, held tightly in his grasp.
Her smile brightend when she caught Inuyasha's eye who was, as usual, infront of the line. Even then he was still aware of their surroundings and everything in it.
Something wavered in those golden depths of his. Just for a split second, but then disapeard as quickly as it had come. He turned back around mummbling the ever popular "feh" under his breath.
Kagome giggled earning a slight grin from Inuyasha. Yes today would be a good day.
When they finally reached their destination Kagome softly set her 'adopted son' to the ground, so she could prepare the picnic. He taust and turned slightly from the lack of warmth that his mother provided him.
Kagome croutched to the ground, picking up the blanket that layed at her heels and spreading it on the grassy bank of the river, she then transported the small fox demon onto its warm cotton surface.
He sighed in delight curling his tail around his body until it tuched the tip of his nose. Shippo slept soundly enjoying the soft lullaby of the birds chirrping and bees humming.
Inuyasha settled down besides the kit and closed his eyes. Movement was sounded besides him as Kagome sat down also, her knees tucked under her chin. Unconsiously pulling a few red stranse away from the baby boy face, Kagome lightly tapped Shippou's nose earning a slight wiggle.
"You spoil him," Inuyasha commented
Kagome giggled to herself looking out into the sparkling surface of the water. One thing left was at lack, Miroku and Sango were no where to be scene.
"Inuyasha do you know where Miroku and Sango have gone?" Kagome questioned looking towards the half demon.
"How should I know. I aint their keeper." Inuyasha glanced up at her worried face and added, "but their just probably a little ways down the river. Dont worry they'll be fine."
"I... suppose."
But Kagome had a feeling in the pit of her stomach that no matter how many times she tried to shake off the feeling it always seemed to snake its way back into her thoughts.
" Inuyasha?"
"hmn..."
"I... I have this strange feeling something is wrong..."
Inuyasha sat up and raised an eyebrow ", your too paranoid."
Kagome didnt reply, unnerving Inuyasha.
"Are you sure Kagome?" He sniffed around for anything out of the ordinary.
Sure enough Inuyasha faintly scensed a demonic ara, coming towards them at a incredibly fast rate. The thing that he couldn't figure out was where it was coming from. He stealthfuly searched both sky and ground.
A shadow cast down onto them bloching the sun from their forms.
Inuyasha quickly stood to his feet.
" Kagome duck!" A Large bird like demon swooped down upon the girl, missing her by a hair.
She pulled Shippou into her embrase shakily awaking the orphaned fox demon she grasped the small bottle that hung freely about her neck tightly, its contents that laid inside, glowed with a whitish hew. Her deep blue and gray eyes starred in horror as the monster turned around and flew back for another arial attack.
Its eye's burnt with hunger as the space between the two got ever so shorter.
Shippou squeeked looking up at Kagome with frightend eyes.
" Kagome!" the voice commanded again, " Run I'll handle this weakling," the boy with a white mane and odd golden eyes jumped in front of the school girl. He held one hand on his hilt ready to unsheathe the legendary sword called the Tensusaiga, forged from his deceased fathers fang.
Kagome jumped to her feet pulling Shippou along with. Fully intending to carry out his wish.
The demon flashed a glance towards Kagome, she froze in her spot.
Eyes towards the sky, a choking sound escaped Kagome's lips. Inuyasha's dog-like ears twitched, as he turned his head to the girl. Her hands were to her throat and she desperately opened and closed her mouth trying to such in air, it was useless. She finally slide to the ground, her eyes darting from boy to youkai.
A steely laugh could be heard from above as the bird hoverd in the air over head. Inuyasha glared, at the creature.
" What did you do to her! "
" Only a little trick to keep her from leaving," the creature sneerd, "and the only way to break it is through me."
Inuyasha's eyes looked back upon the girl he had grown so close to over the years he had known her.
" Then call yourself dead vermin," he growled unsheathing his sword; with a great light it had transformed into its full potential. He lunged on the beast, jumping with great height and agility to hit its goal.
He missed by inches.
" Fool," the bird hissed, "How can a mere henyou defeat me? Give up dog its useless."
Inuyasha glared wipping his head free from persperation forming on his temple. But he became desperate, every minute they lost it was costing Kagome dearly.
"Mama!" Shippou cried franticly shaking Kagome the best he could with his small hands.
As Inuyasha neared the girl, Shippou slightly backed away allowing the henyou to pull her close. He took the necklase which hung from her kneck and threw it to the ground.
Shippou's eyes grew large and he stared in disbelief at the older youkai. "Inuyasha?"
" There!" he growled acting as though he never seen the childs questioning stare, "This is what you were after. Take it and leave her alone!" a weak hand was placed on his cheek. Kagome smilled faintly; her lips moved yet no words were spooken. But Inuyasha already knew and smilled back; dropping his sword; he brang his hand up to meet hers.
" Is this the fate of us?" Kagome questiond, "were we ever ment to be?"
"Don't say that," Inuyasha whisperd, pulling her ever closer.
" But there are always those constant enteruptions."

"JAKEN IS A BAD DEMON!"
A girl of the ages of 9 seasons stood over what seemd to be a head and body of the creature none other than the demon by the name of Jaken. His knobbly body showed signs of bruises and bumps.
The girl glowerd over him giving him the dreaded "look" as they called it. One hand gripped his two headed cane; slightly highting the other in the palm, as if to say "bring it on."He shudderd in fear.
Over the past few years of joining their small group of two, Rin had grown to give no mercy when it came to fights. He had his master to thank for that.
He slowly climbed to his feet, rubbing his head while grabbing the cane away from the brown eyed girl. He averted his attention back to his master while muttering a couple of foul words under his breath.
"Lord Sesshomaru!"
He had never even glanced Jakens way as he padded up besides him.
"Lord Sesshomaru?" he called again, raising his voice a little thinking the Westerland lord didn't hear him.
" I can hear you perfectly fine Jaken. What is it?"
"Where exactly are we headed?"
It took a few seconds for the lord to respond, which unnerved his servant. As if his lord thought it was an unwise question and would be punished for speaking his mind. Jaken scrambled back and bowed.
" Forgive me Lord Sesshomaru it was foolish to question your judgement."
" The clearing," he finally stated watching the little girl in a flamming orange kimono pick flowers from the side of the pathway.
She finally was satisfied after a heavy thought of color rights and of pulling out weeds or flowers not worthy of to be in her bouquet. She happly skipped to his other side; her cheek just barly skimmed the fur of her lords large tail.
It slighty moved on contact; wanting to wrap around her and protect her from the outside world.
Sesshomaru thought otherwise. His eyes were directed out towards the horizon. They moved towards the east out to a clearing but he did not want to state the reason of going so far east in consern for the human child.
His brother was in the area. Not that he really cared. But sooner or later his sibbling would catch his sent and seek him out for battle, putting Rin in harms way. So he disided to go to him as he always did. Make a dramatic entrance, then be gone with him. But as always that reched human girl would always interfer. Slidding a victory for the Westernland lord's brother.
The corner of his lip tugged upward.
" Not this time," he thought quickening his paces. "Jaken," he called sturnly looking down at the small demon toad. The green being jumped at the slight annoyance in his master's voice.
Of course his voice had always showed signs of annoyance or boredom, which brought Sesshomaru to the conclusion that his bald headed little servant was a paranoid old fool.
" Yes Master Sesshomaru?"
"Im going, stay here with Rin"
"B,but wait Lord Sesshomaru you do not expect me to baby sit this holagin?!"
Sesshomaru raised one of his graisful eyebrows and stared at the ancient being with peircing eyes, " Why not? I've been babysitting you ever since you came to my side. Stay with the child."with that he sped off leaving the frog and girl to sort out his words.
" Good going Rin! Your stench was to much for his nose and you scared him off."
" Not so!" she yelld back grabbing his stick once again and bashing him over the head.
"OW YOU STUPID LITTLE NINGEN! I'LL GET YOU FOR THAT!"
Rin took off before he had a chance to get to his feet.
" Im too old for this," he growled slowly rising to his feet and took off towards the girl, yelling foul words at her in the process.
"SESSHOMARU – SAMA IS NOT HERE TO SAVE YOU NOW WITCH!"

" Kagome! Kagome!" Inuyasha shook her shoulders feriously trying to awaken her but her blue pools would not flutter open. Her hands felt cold and clammy, with every atempt to breath she would shudder. The youkai bird had swallowed the shards and was quikly metamorphing into a larger and quite uglier form.
The buzzard hadn't botherd to release his grip from Kagome, which made the henyou even more furious.
"BIRD!" he yelld charging at the animal with an unhumanistic ability. His eyes flashed red as he raised his clawed hand in a stricking pose. He swipped at the bird who only laughed in his atempts to kill him.
" Do not be foolish half breed! Run before I diside to kill you, I had only come for the shards!"
He turned to leave when he felt a sharp pain in his wing.
"Gaaa!!!" he fell to the ground with a sickening thude.
A dark chuckle erupted from Inuyasha, he croutched on the ground, hand drentched in black blood. His head bowed. Long tresses of white silky bangs coverd his face.
The demon ruffled his feathers in rage. So the boy was hidding his power from him. He stood once again facing off the dog half demon.
"So you did have something in you after all. No matter you can join the human in Hell!"
Inuyasha growled while cracking his knuckles menacingly. He finally glanced up. The bird was looking face to face with the full demon Inuyasha.
His eyes burned of red. One long jagged purple strip marked each cheek. He smilled showing his pearly white fangs that the youkai noticed seemed to have lengthend in the short time of the dogs transformation.
" I think it is you who should run bird!" he gave a warrior cry then lunged towards him.
While Inuyasha and the demon bird were busy at their heated fight. They hadn't cared to glance up at the and notice the scent of the Western Lord entering the field. He watched the match with boredom eched acrossed his face. Head on fights did not suit him well, they were thought of as an idiotic and repulsive way to start any challenge.
He glanced towards the ground at the smell of jasmine and honey. His golden eyes showed signs of anger at the girl that lay strewn across the earthen ground. Dark heavy magic lingerd over the paled girl. Sesshomaru turned his nose in discuste, it was a faint magic but his powerful sences could nearly detect anything.
" I should kill her now," he thought raising his claws to have a greenish hew dance about his fingertips. "I could use my poison. It kills almost instintly. I'll atleast give her that she was a worthy enough aponent... for a human." He walked to the side of her and slightly nudged her with the sole of his shoe.
When he heard a squeek from besides him. He looked down to see the small kitsune that had always fallowed his brother around, latched onto the mikos arm. Why he had failed to notice or atleast senced him, puzzled Sesshomaru only for a few seconds.
Sesshomaru raised snowy white brow. Giving the child a swift kick in the rump was enough to send the boy flying five yards.
He looked back towards the womans body laying limply on the ground. He strained his ears. No she wasn't dead he could still hear her heart beat faintly. A small smirk came to his usual masked face. He stooped down and lightly picked up the girl. Her hand limply hung to her side.
"Oi Inuyasha!" he cried, bringing the girl closer to him. Inuyasha's head turned towards the sound of his name but ended up taking a blow across the face as soon as he his thoughts wondered. He flew through the air and slammed into the ground painfully.
Sesshomaru lightly chuckled under his breath.
" My dear stupid brother, when will you ever learn," unraveling his snowy white tail the taiyoukai snaked it firmly around the womenchilds waist.
Soon Kagome was resting comfirtingly in the warmth of his tail. He raised his hand in a stricking motion, a few seconds later a poison like whip protruted from his fingers, he snapped it towards the ground menacingly.
" Let me show you how a real demon works."
He flew towards the bird whipping it across the stomach then kneck. The youkai hawk cryed out in pain, only to be slapped once again by the dog lord.
" It hurts doesn't it," his eyes shifted towards his brother who was slowly getting to his feet, his eyes redder then ever.
" Sesshomaru you jerk, this is my fight!"
" For whom brother. For your demon rage or for this ningen womenchild."
Inuyasha snapped his eys towards the girl that was wrapped snuggly between layer upon layor of fluff. His eyes narrowed to slits.
" Leave the women out of this brother or..."
" Or what," Sesshomaru intersepted, " You'll run blindly into combate that you do not even have the slightest bit a chance at winning." Sesshomaru stared at him with a bored expression, "As low as breed as you couldn't possibly take on two beings at once. Even when one has something you cherish the most," he lightly raised his tail to signify he was talking about the raven haird girl.
Sesshomaru grabbed for the Tolkijen when he noticed his brothers hand flecksing. Inuyasha growled his sword laying peacfuly by Sesshomarus feet.
" Brother are you looking for this?" he kicked the sword closer towards him, then he reach out and extended his whip slising the bird demons throat in an instint. It chocked out blood, his eyes wide with surprise. Sesshomaru smilled wickedly.
" If you were that easy to dispose of, I would have killed you long ago Kenji," he withdrew his whip and watched the bird in discust as he slide to the ground motionless.
"What you knew him?"
Sesshomaru return the question with an emotionless stare, "I did."
With that a cloud formed beneath Sesshomarus heels and he flew beound the reach of the henyou. Before Inuyasha realized it his brother was long gone.
A peircng cry could be heard all throughout Japan(That is loud! -.- ouch)

As soon as the bird youkais heart-beats began to fade, Kagomes heart pumped more freely. She gasped sucking in air. Blood rushed to her head and a splitting headache roared.
"Kami-sama," Kagome thought, cracking her eyes open as sun poured through. She cringed snapping them shut again. Her hair danced madly behind her. Something warm was wrapped around her blocking the wind from her face. All but the back of her head that had been painfuly lopped to the side, hit the air that quickly passed them by.Although Kagome seen nothing but black her ears were at their fullest extent. She listend to the quiet bickering going on besides her.
"When did Shippou get such a girlish voice?" she thought cranning her ears further to hear what they were saying.
" You are the roodest little brat," came one voice.
Kagome smilled, Inuyasha and Shippou were at it again.
She then tried to move into a more comfirtable posistion laying her head back into what she asumed to be Kiraras fur.
"I should remember to get some caulfdrops the next time I go back home, sounds like Inuyasha has caught the cooled again," she then quickly drifted back to sleep, her face barred deeply into the white fur.
Sesshomaru raised an eyebrow while clicking his tongue in discomfirt of the girl snuggling close to his tail. Although at some point it did feel...enjoyable. He slightly pried off the fingers that where unconsiously running through the white soft fur.
"Sesshomaru-sama?" Rin questioned watching the elder girl in wonder. "Why is this pretty lady coming with us?"
" She is staying with us for a little while," he replied only half the truth in his words. Of course she would be staying with them but not nessisarily as a guest.
To be continued...
