Chapter One: The New Partner - Part 1

"Manakai Sesshoumaru? The captain will see you now," an officer said.

Sesshoumaru stood up. Now, he was going to see who his new partner would be after his other partner had been fired off the force. Kiwama Naraku had not been a good cop in the homicide division. No detail required. Sesshoumaru hoped that he wouldn't get stuck with someone he would hate. Like Naraku. Naraku was the festering sore on the back of good detective work. He walked into the office where the captain was located.

"Ah, Manakai. Good to see you." the captain greeted.

Wakinashi Kaede was the captain of the homicide division. Though she was a woman, and an older one at that, she was widely respected because she had solved many cases in her prime, and would still occasionally go out and do a bust. No one messed with Kaede.

"As you know, Kiwama is not with us any more. Mind you, I'm glad he's gone. Anyway, you will meet your new partner today. Your partner is new, and I expect you to help out and train your partner."

Sesshoumaru nodded. 'Great, a newbie,' he thought. 'How fun.' Kaede smiled. She knew that he had hoped for someone with more experience, but she also knew that he liked a challenge.

Just then, a woman walked in. She was about four years younger than Sesshoumaru, about 25. She had ebony hair that fell halfway down her back, and gray-brown eyes. She had high cheekbones, and a slender build. She was wearing casual clothes, a white blouse and dark pants. 'Must be a new secretary.' Sesshoumaru thought.

"Manakai, meet Higurashi Kagome. Your new partner."

Sesshoumaru did a small double take, one that Kaede could only see. Kaede smirked. Kagome bowed. Sesshoumaru slid a glance over at Kaede, his eye twitching a tad bit. 'Why her?' he thought. 'Why me?'

A/N: HI PPLZ!!!!!!!!! Doo doo doo da doo doo da doo doo da da da! WHEEEEEE!!!! I had 3 cups of coffee this morning, and it's not morning anymore. Why am I still hyper? I have no clue!

(runs all around the house, on chairs, tables, the dog, the walls, the ceiling)

WHEEEEEE!!!! I love coffee! Anyway, how d'ya like so far? I know, it is short, but they will get longer. First chappies in my stories are always short, so GET USED TO IT. Hehehehe........ Review, review, review! WHEEEEEE!!!! (trails off)
