“What’s “Intended” Mean?” by Tia Ariel

Chapter One

"What's "Intended" Mean?"

by: Ramen Baka

"Sesshy," she said seriously one day, sunglasses shadowing her blue eyes. He looked up from the comic he was reading and over to the eight-year-old. Once she was certain she had his attention she sat on the floor beside his bed and propped up her chin on the edge of the bed. "What's "intended" mean?" the twelve-and-a-half year old's cheeks rode in color with a soft blush...

Nothing seemed more fun, or more normal, for Kagome to run circles around Sessho-maru while asking him annoying questions. She would gaze at him with those huge and unnerving blue eyes and he had no choice but to spoil her with answers, as mundane as the task was.

"Sesshy," she said seriously one day, sunglasses shadowing her blue eyes. He looked up from the comic he was reading and over to the eight-year-old. Once she was certain she had his attention she sat on the floor beside his bed and propped up her chin on the edge of the bed. "What's "intended" mean?" the twelve-and-a-half year old's cheeks rose in color with a soft blush.

"It means that you're gonna marry someone someday. Why, Kagome?" she tilted her head and scrunched up her nose, scrutinizing him. All the way from his long, pale silver hair to his sneaker-clad feet. After she was done, she leaned back on her heels and nibbled on her bottom lip, then she nodded and stood.

"Seeya later Sesshy." His eyes narrowed some as he watched her, and then when she was at the door it finally sunk in.

"Hey, kid, why'd you ask me?" she turned her head quickly, raven hair flying over her shoulder. She pushed down her sunglasses to the tip of her nose and squinted at him over the ridge of them. She shrugged.

"I guess it won't be so bad marrying you, as long as you stop reading those stupid Batman comics." She supplied, hooking her thumbs under her overall straps and dashing out of the room.

He stared dumbly at the door a moment, then looked back to his Special Edition Batman comic. "I guess I'd better break the habit now." He murmured, pushing it off the bed and flopping onto his back. After a moment his hand twitched and he turned back and grabbed the comic, making sure no harm was done. "Oh, thank God. My parent's might want me to marry her, but if it means giving up my comics--no freakin' way."
