=========================================================================
Kagome looked out the small window over her mound of blankets for a bed and few hard pieces of fabric and padding for pillows. She smiled at the children running to the park just across the street from her small one room apartment. The children were playing, and once done they would race back to their parents or siblings that were watching after them. Her eyes flew to the tree growing outside her window. She sighed, still looking at the tree, admiring the beauty that it held in its green, arm-like braches. With another sigh she looked back at the park. A child, a boy around the age of 5, sat on his okaa-san's lap, wrapped in her arms, and in the arms of a man that might be his otou-san, she didn't know because boy did not look like him.
For the third time Kagome sighed. She seemed to be doing that a lot these days. Her head dropped, looking at the old dark gray carpeted floor. Her sapphire eyes lied on it for a minute or so, before she turned her gaze to the wooden doors opening to the living room, which went to the kitchen, and was attached to the living room. She sighed for the fourth time as her head turned to the doors where her bathroom lied. She had no desire to go through those brown wooden doors to the deep blue and black bathroom. She looked down her wrist. 8:35 her watch read as the numbers flashed back at her. She sighed, thinking she would go to that park the kids seemed to love so much. She walked to the dresser to the left of the wooden doors of her bathroom. Opening it she searched in hope to find some pants. After a few minutes of throwing clothes here and there, she found nothing. Sighing, she moved to the double doors of her small closet. Opening the doors, she looked over the clothes she had there. She ran her index finger over the close, finding some baggie sweat pants. Slipping them on, she closed the doors and turned to see a mess of her room.
Shaking her head she started to pick up the shirts and underwear from the floor. All but one thing had been cleared from her floor. Kagome looked at the object in hand. A deep red, almost blood red, book was staring back at her. Her heart skipped a beat and her breath hitched in her throat. Her fingers ran over the black lettering in the front. They read "Truth." She smiled at the thoughts coming back.
=========Flash Back==========
Kagome found herself walking in a forest. The leaves were turning bright reds, yellows, and oranges from autumn creeping upon them. Kagome was dropped back into existence by a child's laughter. She looked to where the beautiful noise was coming from. As she walked the noise became louder and clearer and the forest became cleaner and lighter. Soon voices came with the child's beautiful singsong laughter. Things such as "I'm going to get you." And "Tag, you're it". All too soon the forest stopped to show a small but breathtaking house. Kagome's heart started to race as she moved from the deep, dark, safe forest, to the light, open, memory filled house and yard.
One thought kept running through her head. 'I know this place.'
She found the front-yard, with a little girl, no more than 5-years-old, running from two grown adults. The girl's back was to Kagome, but the man and woman were not turned from her. The man had blond hair, with deep blue eyes. The woman had black hair and chocolate brown eyes with laughter in them. Not to forget the man had the same kind of laughter going through his. The man and the woman lunged at the little girl. But the girl ran just in time. She turned around and Kagome gasped. The girl had raven black hair with natural ocean blue highlights; her eyes were of a sapphire color. Kagome could tell she was their otome, the oldest, but at this time Souta had not been born yet. Kagome knew this, for the little girl was herself as a child of age 5, and these people running after her was Kagome's okaa-san and otou-san. The girl stopped as her eyes spotted Kagome. A wide smile came on her face, and she waved. Kagome smiled and waved back.
"Who are you waving at Kagome?" Mrs. Higurashi asked.
"The onna over there okaa-san! Don't you see her?" Asked the young Kagome. Kagome's mother looked to Mr. Higurashi but all he did was smile.
"I see her too, Kagome. She looks just like you!" He said.
Kagome looked at the man, her otou-san; he looked right back at her and smiled. Kagome would have liked to see more, and she would have if it was not for a loud beeping noise.
==========End Flash Back===========
*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
A beeping noise came from the bedside table of this man's bed. He looked over at it. '10:00' it read back. 'ARG!!' He thought as he lifted his half-asleep form off of the very nice, very rich, king-size bed, which right now at this minute, seemed to be calling out to him. 'GRRRR......I have to teach today.' He thought as he went into his bathroom to get ready for a new day. As he came out of the bathroom, wearing dress pants and a blue dress shirt, he looked to his otome's room. A ghost of a smile fought to lie across his young, but wise looking face. He did really love his otome. She was the only living thing to make his emotions surface. He would have to wake her soon. She didn't like for him to leave with out her knowing, but that didn't bother him, for it was a sign that she loved him and will always care, something he wishes from another. A female for him to love as much as Rin, but in a different way. 'Enough of this thought.' He told himself as he tied his tie. He went into their big, open, black and white kitchen, to make something for Rin.
'I will have to call Kaede to look after Rin again.' He thought as he got the pancake mixture from the cupboard next to the stove. His nose became filled with the aroma of fresh golden brown pancakes.
"Sesshoumaru-sama! You made Rin's favorite! Yay!" Rin yelled as she threw her arms around Sesshoumaru's legs. (Rin is so cute when she talks about herself in third person that I just could not put it in!)
"Rin, you don't have to call me 'Sesshoumaru-sama' I am your otou-san." Sesshoumaru said as he patted Rin's little head.
"Alright otou-san. Gomen." She said.
"You don't have to be sorry." Sesshoumaru said as he laid a kiss on Rin's forehead. As he started to stand up, Rin wrapped her little arms around her father's neck. Sesshoumaru gave an inward chuckle as he moved her to his hip. He started to get the plates, knives and forks for their meal. We walked over to the white kitchen table; and set everything down in its rightful place. As he moved to put Rin down, she refused to let go.
"Is otou-san going to work?" Rin innocently asked.
"Hai Rin and you're going to Kaeda-san's house." Sesshoumaru said, finally getting Rin off him and into the chair.
"Rin wants to come! Can Rin come otou-san?" She asked with pledging eyes and in a praying form, hands together, kneeling on the chair.
"I don't know Rin...."Sesshoumaru said. He looked down to her begging with those puppy-dog eyes and pouting lips. How could he say no to that face? He gave in. "I guess so Ri-" Rin jumped up, almost falling to the floor, if Sesshoumaru had not been there, screaming "YAY!"
"Rin, let me finish." Her father said. Rin looked down. "Gomen" She said in a small voice. Sesshoumaru chuckled softly and said. "If you can be good, which I know you can, then you can come." Rin smiled, a big toothy smile and started to eat the pancakes that Sesshoumaru had cut for her. He and Rin sat there, eating in peace.
~*Twenty-five Minutes Later*~
Sesshoumaru stood in front of his classroom, in one minute, his 10:30 class would be coming in. He looked to Rin, who was in his office. She smiled, waved and went back to playing with dolls. He made an inward smile. Right now was not the time to smile. He went over the school plan in his mind. Hai, the everything was right and ready. The bell rang for class to start. He watched from his chair behind a big oak desk. After everyone was in and all the seats were filled, he started to talk.
"Hello and welcome to introduction to writing. I will be your teacher Mr. Takamada. This class is hard; if you talk and fool around. I do not tolerate tardiness, therefore you will not be late. If you are going to do any of the things I have said, leave now and don't look back." No one was left so Sesshoumaru went on. "Look at where you are sitting now, this will be your seat for the next year." He looked over the students, memorizing the faces and where they sat. His eyes landed on a young woman, she looked to be about 19 or 20 years old, who was taking down notes of all he said. His eyes left her and moved to the kids in the room. He gave an inward sigh at the punks and drama queens in this room.
'This is going to be a looooong year.'
