Powerful Feelings by KittyBlue
Chapter 1 I did a bad thing?
She didn't know what else to do. She really didn't. It happened so spontaneously...so fast. She didn't even have time to think about what she had done to herself. To everyone who knew her. To her enemy. To her ally. To...him. To the one she loved so dearly, so completely, that she should have known better.
What did she do? What did Kagome Higurashi, the human miko from the distant future, or, per say, present, do?
She looked death in the eye and took it head on to protect the well being of someone she didn't even know.
~Flashback~
InuYasha and the gang had been wandering around, looking for jewel shards at that point in time. They knew where ever a jewel shard was, there was trouble. Kagome, bow and arrows within her reach, was on her bicycle, which InuYasha considered a horse with wheels. The spoken of party was sitting on the back of the bicycle, near sleeping though his toe nails were clawing into the bike's wheel cover, keeping him on. Any human would have fallen off at this point, but InuYasha stayed on as if it took no effort at all, which, truly, it didn't. Or, at least, Kagome thought so, the way the hanyou was sleeping. He was dozing off and snoring somewhat loudly.
Sango, a taijia Kagome had met long ago, was sitting on the back of her beloved Kirara, a firecat with unknown amounts of wisdom and moderate strength. The Monk, Miroku, was behind Sango, though her Hirokutsu, was between the two, blocking any contact. Miroku, perverted as he was, pouted at the lack of trust. Deep down, though, they both cared for each other immensely, even, possibly, loved each other. Of course, Miroku would always be all over any woman that caught his devious eyes. Sango kept him in check though.
Shippou, the promiscuous kitsune, was in Kagome's Bike's basket, along with some small baby blankets and a pillow so he could sleep while they searched. Shippou loved Kagome very much, looking to her as a mother, and InuYasha and Miroku as some what father figures. Sango was like that lovable aunt that you looked forward to seeing every year. He had taken on the habit of calling Kagome 'Ma' ever since she got out of school nearly a year ago. Now she was almost twenty years old, although she still looked eighteen. Shippou still looked like a toddler, a brilliant toddler whom was able to mate now. Of course, mating for him was out of the question with Kagome around, until he looked at least fifteen or there abouts, he knew. Oh well. He still loved her dearly and that's what counted.
Shippou, at the time, had been thinking about his friends and how close he was to each one. Of course, Kagome was the person he was closest too. Such a wonderful mother and friend she was. He looked ahead and sniffed the air.
"Kagome, I sme-" Just then Kouga ran right into the group, knocking Kagome off her bike completely by accident, but catching her before she hit the ground. Shippou began to 'cry' as soon as his rear hit the ground, and InuYasha, waking as soon as the bike started moving, jumped into a near by tree.
Kagome gave Kouga a hard, stern look and smacked him. "Don't you EVER do something that can endanger Shippou again, you understand me?!" Kagome lectured, Kouga's head lowered and a whine reverberated from his throat, sounding more like a sad growl.
"I'm sorry, Kags, I just thought you'd like a surprise and I couldn't wait to give you these!" He said and handed her a bouquet of flowers, though they were half weeds. Kagome smiled and took them. He really was sweet to her. She blushed as he hugged her and nuzzled her neck. Kagome jumped back and cleared her throat.
"Kouga, distance, remember?" She said as InuYasha was right behind her snarling.
"Yeah, yeah, you don't like mutt-face mad at you. Well, see you around Kagome, bye dog-shit! Take care of my woman!" Kouga said, racing off as his pack just made it to the group.
"Oh man! Kouga, wait!" One pack member said, the whole pack was out of breath, but they continued after their leader loyally.
InuYasha snarled at Kouga's pack before calling out the all too common words. "SHE IS NOT YOUR WOMAN!!!!!"
That was when Kagome's senses picked up the one thing they had been looking for. A jewel shard. Of course, the jewel shard was tainted and had a slightly dark glow to it. She smiled and turned to InuYasha.
"Time to go, InuYasha, I see a jewel shard that way and it's most likely accompanied by a demon or something." She said, pointing west, in the direction of the shard.
Everyone was soon back in their former positions, though InuYasha was awake and Sango had changed into her taijia outfit, and off following Kagome's lead. Soon, Kagome and the others stopped dead in their tracks when they saw who held the shard. Sesshoumaru's little minion, Jaken.
Kagome sighed.
InuYasha laughed.
Sango looked at the imp in disgust.
Miroku chuckled, but tried to hide his snickers behind his hand.
Shippou giggled and jumped from his perch and ran to the little toad looking demon.
Shippou defeated Jaken all on his own, not surprising the others, but they all praised him for his part in jewel shard gathering. Shippou proudly gave it to Kagome and she gave him a chocolate bar as a reward. He squealed and ducked under the baby blankets of the bike's basket, leaving only his powder puff of a tail showing.
Then, much to everyone's discomfort, Sesshoumaru appeared. "Where is it, Rin?" He asked, ignoring the company completely.
"Jaken had it, and he put it in his eye like this!" Rin then used one of her small hands to open her right eye as wide as she could and poked her other hand to poke her eye and she squealed in false agony and she then sat on her rear and giggled.
Jaken, unconscious at the moment, twitched and Kagome shook her head. "We took the jewel shard, Sesshoumaru-sama." She said and held it for him to see.
Sesshoumaru nodded, pleased that she addressed him so formally instead of using his name alone. "Miko, you may receive any jewel shards we have. This Sesshoumaru does not believe in using such things for power, although, apparently, my minion thinks otherwise. Which of you defeated Jaken?"
Kagome bowed slightly. "My son, Shippou, did."
"The orphaned kitsune child?" Sesshoumaru questioned and Kagome nodded and InuYasha just sat there, glaring at Sesshoumaru, his hands on his precious Tetsusaiga. Sango and Miroku looked back and forth from Kagome and Sesshoumaru. This wasn't the first time the two had a decent conversation, but the demon lord wouldn't talk decently to the other members of their group.
Shippou sat up from the basket and looked up at Kagome, who pulled out a handkerchief and wiped the boy's face clean.
"So, you have adopted a demon as a son. Interesting." He said and Rin began to poke at Jaken with her foot.
"Sesshoumaru-sama, Rin thinks Jaken is trying to tell Rin something, but Rin does not know! Jaken twitches like he hurt, Sesshoumaru-sama!" Rin announced, and Shippou laughed and ran to Rin playing poke-the-Jaken with her.
"And I see you have taken on a human ward, Sesshoumaru-sama." Kagome said and smirked at him. The others tensed, afraid he would attack. He didn't.
Kagome called for Shippou and gathered the boy up in her arms. Sesshoumaru looked at the two with his emotionless mask on, although Rin could see the amusement and interest spark in his amber eyes. Rin then formed a small plan in her mind. She WOULD have a mother. And it WOULD be human!
Soon, though, they were surrounded by Miasma. Poison. Kagome put up a barrier, unconsciously, around them all, protecting the children. Naraku's voice echoed about them, amused laughter.
"So...The Demon Lord of the West has made a small understanding with the Reincarnation of his brother's lover? I wonder...What would you do if I did something such as this..." His voice trailed off and Kagome suddenly felt darkness grip at her skin and soul. She screamed as pain over came her senses and she fell to her knees holding her head. The others could only watch as InuYasha screamed for Naraku to come out and fight, and Kagome change.
No longer was her hair the black-blue, but a silver, like that of the Inutaishu brothers. Her ears grew pointed and slightly longer. Her skin darkened slightly, into a richer tan. Three silvery tails emerged, causing her to scream in pain. Her body's muscles were screaming at her, telling her to stop the pain. Blood poured out where the tails had freed themselves from her skin. Shippou watched as his mother's face contorted in pain and felt tear run down his own face. "Ma!" He cried and he nearly fell over when she looked at him. Her eyes were no longer the cobalt blue he loved so dearly, but a deep red color. Her tears almost looked red because of those eyes. Eyes like Kagura's. Shippou cried out in alarm and raced to his mother's side, only to be hit with the changing spell as well.
Now, he had the same coloring as Kagome, only his eyes were still the Emerald green everyone loved so much. He also had black tipping his hair and tail, and his paws were black now too! Soon, the screaming stopped and Kagome fell to her side, groaning as the pain slightly subsided. Sesshoumaru stood over her and snarled.
"Naraku..." His whispered growl came out so low only Kagome, Shippou, and InuYasha heard him. Kagome slowly stood, with the help of InuYasha and Sango. Shippou couldn't believe his eyes as he looked himself over. Naraku knew many demons and humans would come after the two now. Silver Kitsune fur was rare and highly valued. Kagome most likely didn't know this. Hell, she kicked InuYasha's ass for attacking that Youko Kurama guy months ago! Shippou looked up at Sesshoumaru and noticed one thing. Sesshoumaru's eyes were bleeding red. Time to move!!!!!
Shippou grabbed Rin's hand and ran straight for Kagome as the Demon Lord lost control of himself. Anger can do that to a person. The Lord of the West easily found the puppet that controlled the Miasma and destroyed it with one slash of his poisoned claws. Kagome watched on in amazement as she realized the raw power Sesshoumaru had, and how InuYasha's paled in comparison. But, unfortunately, Naraku was prepared.
Another puppet came out of the Miasma and made a direct attack towards Sesshoumaru's back. Kagome wouldn't allow this to happen. She couldn't! Who would Rin follow? Who would Rin look to for guidance? Who would father Rin?!
That's when the whole mess started. Kagome jumped and tackled the puppet, taking its head off with one attack. It gave Sesshoumaru enough time to turn and slice through the puppet's body, leaving the wooden doll to fall to the ground in half. InuYasha, having wanted Sesshoumaru to die, roared in anger that that chance was ruined by Kagome. He yelled at Kagome for putting herself in danger. Kagome, now even shorter than Sango, realized Kitsune were naturally small. She winced and covered her ears at his yelling. Eventually she began to back up-right into the man she helped. She looked up and InuYasha stopped ranting.
"I-I'm sorry Sesshoumaru-sama! I am just not use to InuYasha's yelling with these new-ACK!" She fell over. She looked down. She had paws for feet. Pure silver too. Her hands looked human enough, except the black claws, but the knees down were covered in silver fur! She gasped and whimpered. Furry legs!? Disgusting.
Sesshoumaru helped her up and held her elbow as she steadied herself. "Thank you, Sesshoumaru-sama." She whispered and she knew InuYasha, Sesshoumaru, and Shippou could smell the salt of her tears. She had the ugliest legs in school and now they were even uglier! Plus she couldn't even hold grades above everyone's heads anymore! She was just...there.
She looked at InuYasha. He didn't look angry, but hurt. Hurt she would lean on his brother and not him. Hurt that Sesshoumaru was closer to her than he ever was him. Hurt that, even now, Sesshoumaru his tail wrapped around hers to help her learn to use them for balance.
~End~
Now Kagome stood there, in Sesshoumaru's grasp and InuYasha's angry glare. Sango and Miroku looked on in shock, Kirara looking at Kagome as if nothing unusual happened. Shippou held a crying Rin, who had fallen and hit her knee on a rock.
Kagome then looked up at Sesshoumaru, who's gaze was still cold to her...but what was that? Amusement? Intrest?....And something she couldn't quite place...Hunger maybe? Sesshoumaru hungry? How long has it been since he had eaten?
She shook her head and tried to walk again, with Sesshoumaru helping her. All she could wonder though, under InuYasha's jealous and angry gaze was one little sentence that should have been a child's thoughts.
'I did a bad thing?'

What did you think? Was it long enough for a first chapter? lol
