An Unforgettable Dream

"Kagome."He whispered her name over and over again.She looked up,her ebony tresses bouncing with the movement.It was dark-really twilight,and she couldn't make out his face,but could clearly see his long,flowing silvery mane.'Inu Yasha.'She thought,laying her head against his shoulder.

Suddenly,he lifted her chin with a clawed hand,making her face him.He leaned closer to her,so close she could feel his warm breath on her face.She glanced up,finally able to see his face.Kagome's eyes widened as she saw who it was.It was not her dear Inu Yasha,the hanyou who had captured her heart,but his elder half-brother."...Sesshomaru?"she whispered,her throat now dry and scratchy.

He smiled,something she had never seen him do.Before she could stop it,he had lowered his lips to hers.For some strange reason,she didn't mind,nor did she pull away.She was merely a little suprised.Her body acted on its own,as did her voice,as she pulled back slightly and whispered,"..I love you."

Kagome jerked awake,out of her restless dream-filled slumber.A fine sheet of persperation had worked its way onto her forehead,and she wiped it away quickly.She glanced around her at their little secluded campsite.Her dear friends and most trusted companions were all still asleep,having suprisingly not awoken after her sudden jolt awake.She couldn't blame them.Their quest for the few remaining fragments of the Shikon no Tama had been extremely stressful.She knew that once the jewel was complete,they would have to battle Naraku-one final time.

She smiled fondly at her friends,who had all come together from one source-Naraku himself.Sango-the Tajiya-who had leaned against a tree to sleep.Miroku-the kind yet slightly perverted monk-who was as far away from Sango as space would allow,sporting a fading red handprint on his left cheek.Shippo-the little Kitsune who had claimed Kagome as his surrogate mother-who was snuggled up against her.Then ther was Inu Yasha-the Inu-Hanyou,who (though he didn't know it) she loved-was on a tree branch directly above her,protecting her like he always did.

She smiled warmly at him before her face went blank,her thoughts having returned to her dream.'Why did I dream about Sesshomaru,of all people?'She thought,her hand immediatly going to her lips.'Why did I tell him that I loved him?!'

Meanwhile,in the Western Lands,the Taiyoukai Sesshomaru walked through the castle garden.Rin,her raven hair tossing in the wind,her big chocolate eyes shining,ran through the rows and rows of beautiful flowers,stoping occasionally to pick one.She was trying(and somewhat failing)to get Jaken to do the same.

"You must be JOKING me!"He cried,running from her."Rin wants Jaken-sama to pick flowers!"She cried,tackling poor Jaken to the ground.Sesshomaru was too deep in his own thoughts to really pay attention to his wards,though he was always alert.Last night,hwhen he had finally been able to sleep,he had been plauged by dreams.He had found himself in the arms of Inu Yasha's wench-the girl he called Kagome.He had actually kissed her.Lord Sesshomaru,Taiyoukai of the Western Lands,KISS a filthy HUMAN?!The thought made him want to RETCH!

But,he knew he'd be lieing if he said he didn't enjoy it.'What am i thinking?'He thought aloud,growing angryn at the thought of HER,though no emotion shown on his impassive face."Sesshomaru-sama!"Rin called,running to himand hugging his leg."Rin picked Sesshomaru-sama flowers!"She handed him a bouquet of flowers,her face bubbly with joy."..Thank you Rin."He said,managing a slight smile before taking them from her delicate fingers.Sesshomaru smirked as she ran off."I'm starting to grow soft."He said softly,barely audible by even his own sensitive ears.

Suddenly a scent came to him on the wind.He scowled inwardly,and turned to his two wards."Jaken."He said."Take Rin back to the castle."Jaken nodded,sensing his master's discomfort."Come Rin."He said,and she followed him back towards the castle.When they were securely inside,Sesshomaru turned and bound intom the forest,following the familiar scent of a certain half-demon.

A/N:Ha Ha.Little cliff hanger there.In the next chapter,we meet the mysterious hanyou,who is SURE to turn Sesshomaru's and Kagome's already hectic lifes,totally upside down!
