The way you described Kodomokuno conjured all sorts of Miyazaki visions in my brain; the spellbinding transformations and mystical visuals, many times in a modern atmosphere so detailed you could step into the artwork. Actually, the entire premise exudes a very Miyazaki feel in that respect. I can vividly see Sesshoumaru moving in between and through massive throngs of people, almost in a slow haze, like (if you've seen it) the "No Face" in Spirited Away. The imagery you've created is spectacular.
The story is surprisingly original. I don't know if I've ever seen the angle of parallel worlds and youkai bending the laws of physics, as it were. Somehow, that concept paired with Sesshoumaru instantly, and almost nonchalantly recognizing Kagome seems very...well, magical to me, for lack of a better descriptive. It indicates a reason for him to remember her, because in all that time and how much his world has changed, she must've done something to make such in impression. You've done an amazing job of setting up your plot and alluding to little tidbits that provide depth and insight into what's next. I didn't miss the bit about Sesshoumaru having a son...that's got me very interested.
I can't wait to see where you take this! Amazing stuff.
