“Come on, guys! It’s time to clean the shrine!” Kagome called, tying a bandana around her head as she motioned towards a pile of cleaning supplies next to the well-house.
Sango and Miroku were more than happy to help as they walked past their friend, grabbing brooms.
“Kagome! What do you want me and Rin to do?” Shippou asked, tugging on her skirt as Rin stood next to him. Kagome looked down towards the two and smiled, kneeling down so that she would be at their level.
“I’ll tell you what… how about you guys go and pick Kaede some pretty flowers? I’m sure when she gets back she’d be more than happy to see them!” She beamed, glancing over to a flower field not too far from the shrine.
“Alright! Come on, Shippou! I’ll show you my favorite flowers!” Rin giggled, grabbing the kitsune’s hand as they skipped towards the field.
Inuyasha sat in the Goshinkboku, arms folded in his robe as he napped. Kagome glared, stomping over to the tree. He was going to help, whether he wanted to or not.
“Inuyasha! Come on already, Kaede will be here in just a few hours! Don’t you want to surprise her by making the shrine spotless?” Kagome huffed, putting her hands on her hips. Inuyasha snorted at her, tilting his head away from her.
“Feh! Like I wanna help that old hag do anything! I ain’t doing nothing, ya hear?!” He grumbled, closing his eyes again as he continued napping.
“Inuyasha, sit boy!” Kagome yelled, stomping her foot as her fists clenched to her sides. She heard a loud snicker come from the other side of the shrine, seeing the little toad that traveled with Sesshomaru, beating some blankets with a broom.
“Foolish Inuyasha, even this lowly servant is preparing for the priestess’ return! Although I was forced into this… I am still helping! He is such a fool, I bet that wretched girl will-” He was cut off as a rock was thrown at his head. He fell to the ground, wailing as he held a newly-forming bump with shaky hands.
“Lord Sesshomaru… why?!” He cried, glancing to his master with betrayed eyes.
“Sesshomaru, how come you’re not helping? Don’t tell you you’re too good to pick up a broom!” Kagome scolded, marching up to the taiyoukai and pointing a finger at him.
“You would do well to lower your finger, girl.” He warned, peering down at her from his aristocratic nose. She didn’t back down, however, and continued to glare at him.
“Or what? You’ll cut it off? Always with the threats, Sesshomaru!” Kagome yelled, once again placing her hands on her hips. Sesshomaru smirked, running a clawed hand through his silver tresses.
“Your request is tempting, however, this one finds he must decline your offer.”
“Oh really? I’m so pleased you took your time to think it through!” Kagome sarcastically replied, turning her head away from him. He chuckled, closing his eyes as he did.
“Sesshomaru, you better help out! You owe me!” Kagome yelled, watching as he made to travel through his light beam. A gust of wind blew towards her, causing her to put her arms to her face to keep the dust and leaves out of her eyes.
When the dust was cleared, she was looking straight a smaller sized version of Sesshomaru in his giant dog form.
“Are you kidding me…?” She groaned, clenching the broom in her hands.
He stuck his nose in the air as he sat down right on top of a pile of leaves she was trying to sweep.
“Sesshomaru! Don’t think that I’m finished with you, ‘cause I’m not! Ya hear me? This isn’t over!” Kagome argued, walking over to another pile of leaves, as it was obvious he wasn’t going to move.
He grinned as her footsteps sounded farther away. Problem resolved.
