The battle had been hard for each of them in its own way. He had fought in the front lines alongside his men, charging, screaming, biting and slashing. Blood stains like never before covered his perfect form.

On the other hand, the past miko and now hanyou, had stayed back, healing the wounded, ordering supplies and guiding those in need. But not for long, soon her reiki had decided to spring back to life, allowing her to purify shards and bring the upper hand back to them.

Now, the battle was over, and they stood on the rotten land of this war; surrounded by fellow warriors and servants. No affection could be shown at this moment, even if both of them cherished it like mad dogs, almost salivating for the marrow on the bone.

And in that moment, when the lady hanyou approached him enough so he could pat her soft and sweet smelling hair, the inuyoukai knew he had chosen perfectly.

He had never felt such pride for a decision, not like this...

She was and always would be, the perfect mate.
