I'm having problems loading chapters. I have tried copy/paste and typing out the chapter but neither are working. I have Office 7 and Windows 7. Does this have something to do with it? Thanks for the help!

Are you using IE? I know there are a lot of IE bugs, and I'm sure I don't know about all of them. :/

One, other thing... "Office 7" ... is that Office 2007, or the real "Office 7.0" (aka Office 95)?

IE is internet explorer!

IE stands for Internet Explorer. Don't feel stupid about not knowing. The level of computer knowledge varies with each individual person. It's good to learn new things.

As Demon says, don't feel dumb at all. I'm decent with computers, and I work around people who can make me look stupid about them w/o even trying.

I think it may be a carry over of the normal IE bugs... Can you try something for me? I don't have anything above IE7 to test with...

I have a newer JavaScript editor there, that may help with some of the IE problems. I just can't test it to be sure.... :/

I don't know if the editor change will help in this case, but if there are any errors, I've setup a few things on the mirror that can't be ran on the main Dokuga site to help trace errors down a bit.

Still nothing. Both sites say that the chapter is there but there are no words in it.

Okay. I'll take a look tonight and see if there's anything that jumps out at me.

Was it able to paste into the initial pop-up window, but no text show up in the main edit window after that?

Also, what type of file were you uploading using? (.doc, .docx, .odt, etc.)

Exactly. Words would show when I copy/paste in the editing part but no words would show up in the actual chapter. Have I thanked you for helping me yet? This is day two and you've been great so far.

Okay then... this is yet another JavaScript bug... Or just one that's existed, and people have worked around by posting in Firefox, or the like.

It's no wonder I could really see anything since that's all on the browser side. :/

I'll have to break down the pop-up and see if each element is valid in IE9. Is there any warnings/error icons that pop-up in IE9 that say when there's invalid elements on pages?? It was normally, IIRC, on the status bar (very bottom left? or right?) of the IE window.

If there are any errors/warning in there dealing with dokuga, paste the full things in here, or a PM to me. That may help me tracking down where in the JavaScript it's at...

Unfortunately I'm not receiving an error screen. All I get is the new story screen with a word count of zero. Sorry for the extra work. How have the others posted in Firefox?

If you're uploading chapters from IE9, try this. Go to Tools>Compatibility View Settings and check the box "Display all websites in Compatibility View".

I've had this problem before. Hope this works.

Great... So, "Compatibility View" changes how IE handles JavaScript, as well as, display pages....

*bangs head*

Why call it "Compatibility View" if it does more than just change how pages are displayed? Why? There's nothing in the CSS/HTML that would cause it not to display the text in the text box otherwise... *whimpers and runs away from IE*

I wish I knew the answer to that question. Sometimes, I don't understand Microsoft.

I'm so sorry... I'd run away from IE too, though. I've called it "Internet Exploder" since I discovered Netscape back in the dark ages. Haven't used IE since, except on other people's machines.

I will cross fingers that it doesn't create more problems for you!

I am having the same problem. I can't seem to find the "Compatability view" option though. I even looked in internet options, but I dont see anything like that.
