I don't own Inuyasha but I hope you all enjoy the story.
Kagome sat on the roof of her three story bed room flat located in the middle of Tokyo. The lights from all the buildings gleamed brightly from their own inner light under the starless black sky. Giving a lone sigh at the sight,
‘The witching hour is the time for Yokai to come out and play.’ Kagome thought to herself while watching a group of high school teens walk home after a nearby arcade closed for the night.
Kagome smiled thinking about how great it would be to spend time out with friends. ‘No Kagome you mustn’t think that way since there were never any if or maybe’s for you.’ She thought berating herself as she slapped her hand to her cheeks to wake herself from the innocent thought that were deadly to her.
The dawning of a new Era had arrived for human and Yokai alike had occurred when war threatened to rip the land apart. Both man and demon worked as one to forge a union of peace for those who called the land of Japan home. Blood shed of the warring past had become lore as the sight of yokai, hanyo and human children playing together in peace. No longer was the thought of Yokai run businesses a strange sight but a common one that was preserved under the Consort treaty agreement. A dream that no one had believed would come to fruition. Became the shell of peace between both species which was even more fragile than a soap bubble.
Kagome gazed at the bleak black sky a moment longer before looking down at her hand. A small ball of light flicked to life on her finger tips dancing around for a moment. “Still I wonder why he had chosen me for his Consort it isn’t like I am anything special.” She mused aloud as the faint blue like flickered out of existence.
The moment before the teens left her piercing blue gaze her cell rang. Pulling it out she looked at the number frowning at it.
“Hello Myōga what do you need from me at this hour?” Kagome questioned lightly.
“Good evening Kagome-sama I am calling to inform you that there is a low-level yokai that has escaped us. And you’re the only one in the area we can call on.” Myōga said sounding frightened while Kagome rolled her eyes.
“I thought that as of the fifth I was no longer an active member of the Daiyokai Grand Council?” She shot back to him as the sight of a shadow lingering in the dark streets caught her eye.
“Please before any innocent youths get hurt.” The old flea begged one last time.
Hanging up on him Kagome dropped to the ground from the roof of her flat. A scream was the first thing she heard while crossing the empty dimly lit street. She pushed herself down the alley that served as a short cut without her shoes. The feeling of wet sludge met the solos of her feet as the familiar smell greeted her. ‘Some still have to mark their area gross.’ Kagome thought as she concentrated on her breathing.
Coming out right near the dark side street where she last saw the shadow. Kagome was greeted with the strong scent of blood which could draw in a pack of wolves from three miles away. Walking into the dark eerie passageway Kagome could feel the weight of the night pressing down on her. As she followed the blood trail to the yokai’s location. A dry laugh escaped her,
‘You would think after a time they would grow bored with this one.’ Kagome mused to herself while she let loose a bright blue orb of light that she hoped would be mistaken for a flashlight. The yokai was an ugly thing and had grown in size which Kagome mentally noted after devouring two of the four teens in the group. Shaking her head at the sight,
‘Teenagers are stupide even if they had been in a larger group they still would have been attacked at this hour.’ Kagome mused as the yokai turned its eyes on her.
“What does a weak bug like you think you’re doing with those kiddies?” She taunted thee spider looking yokai which growled at her in anger.
"Rrraawww!" Was the only reply of the horse size yokai-arachnid jumped from its secluded spot in the high corner that it had built its’ web. Where the two still living teens were being held cocooned in spider silk. Giving a yawn at the straight forward attack pattern which Kagome dodged with ease.
“This is too simple for my skill set.” Kagome complained as she moved swiftly behind the spider. The yokai used this chance to trap her in its’ sticky web that it had used on the four teens. The sound of laughter caught the demon by surprise at the sudden loss of gravity. Kagome grabbed the silk strand where she started to swing the arachnid around. Before slamming the monstrous spider down onto the ground making a loud thud as the gravel under the huge bod breaks. Dropping the silk Kagome moves around to the front where its head is. She expands the small blue orb before letting the light purify the rouge yokai without much effort on her part.
Kagome made her way over to the web the giant spider had been using as a dining table. The orb of light grew smaller and she used it to cut away the silk hanging from the buildings. Taking them in for a moment she used the glow of the orb to determine their health. The two teens had fainted making it harder to determine if the spider had swapped bodies. Kagome reached down to check their vitals except stopped for a moment. Both pair of eyes opened to show that the spider had indeed taken over their bodies.
“I really am starting to hate spiders.” Kagome moaned as both her hands got covered in silk. Anger flashed in her eyes as she forced her power into the tips of her fingers. The glow broke away the demonic spider silk until she reached both teenager’s face. Holding onto the both of them tightly till both of their screams had died away. Removing her hand she was met with purple pruned bodies that began turning grey.
Kagome sighed as she stood up right to take in the damage that had been done. Bringing the blue orb to float in the center of her hands causing it to expand. Covering the area in the purify light she dispelled the remains of the spider yokai for good. The only traces that the yokai had been there was the blood stains and the broken ground. Pulling out her cell she called back Myōga.
“Target has been neutralized you can now send in your crew to clean up the scene. Oh and Myōga I expect triple our going rate since this was off the books and you know how Lord Sesshomaru can get.” Kagome said using a dark tone that had the flea sweating up a storm on the other end of the line.
“Of course Kagome-sama and have a pleasant day at school tomorrow.” Myōga said in a jittery voice.
Tried after expending so much energy Kagome slowly made her way home. As she walked down the sidewalk bare foot. Kagome took in the overall damage the fight had down to her outfit. Fingering a hold at the bottom of her tank top she sighed. ‘It had to be my favorite sleeping tank top too.’ Kagome thought as she mused with dark ideas.
The sight of the building she called home had her sore tired feet pulsing at the idea of a long night sleep. With a little oomph she went to retrieve her key then stopped as her hands found no pockets. Growling with anger Kagome moved to the alley way. Jumping back and forth from one side of the building to the other and back. Till he reached the roof of her building where she entered her flat the same way she had left it.
Dropping down in from the skylight right into the kitchen Kagome made her way down the hall to the bathroom. Turning the faucet of the bath on as she stepped into the tub and rinsed her feet clean. Stepping out onto the towel and drying them before making her out of the bathroom and right into her bedroom. On the way to the bed in the dark Kagome caught the sight of her school uniform. Pure white except for the red trimming around the hems and the cherry blossom crest on the left side of the blazer. Frowning at it she moved past it and plopped right down on top of the covers.
The blare of her favorite music brought Kagome back to the waking world as her hand searched for the culprit behind the noise so early in the morning. With a huff she rolled out of bed cracking her eyes to protect them from the early morning sunlight that filtered in through the white shears that hung covering her windows. With a yawn and a slight stretch Kagome followed the sound of the music. Stopping when at the counter where her cell sat right there on the floor in front of it.
Picking it up Kagome unlocked it and found that she had 50 missed calls from Sesshomaru. Surprised by the number of missed calls Kagome popped open the text screen. “Interesting he must be worried if he is breaking his word of not talking to me until the first day of high school.
‘What do you need so early in the morning Master?’ She texted and got a reply almost immediately.
‘You did a job for Myōga last night without informing me.’ She read almost hearing a hint of a growl.
‘True but I got triple our normal pay for the trouble what of it?’ Kagome replied before hooking the cell up to the charger.
‘By disobeying my direct command you could have gotten hurt and you probably jumped off the roof like an idiot.’ Kagome rolled her eyes.
‘I am fine worry wart though I thought you were going to let me live free on my own till high school.’ She texted back before going to take a shower.
Sesshomaru looked at her last text message and growled at the screen for a long moment. The silver haired Daiyokai muttered under his breathe. “She is going to be the death of me.” His driver shivered having only heard the word death.
Kagome took in a deep breath and looked at the school as kids around her own age made their way into the building. ‘Ah good old school!’ She thought sarcastically making her way to the entrance.
Making the climb up the steps Kagome felt a pair of hands grab her around the waist. Nearly causing her to lose her balance. “Ugh why must you bug me so early in the morning…why do I even try?” She muttered feeling the one who grab her nuzzle into her neck. Their breath linger tickling the back of her neck.
“Morning Kagome.” A male voice purred next to her ear.
“Wolf if you don’t reframe from touching me one day you will lose one of those hands.” Kagome hissed plucking the offending appendages of her person.
“My love you wound me saying such things.” He pouted taking her hands up in his own and holding them over his heart.
“Still no matter what you do or say I won’t become your Consort so stop.” Kagome said freeing her hands from his. And just in time too as a female voice called out his name.
“Koga! Why did you leave without me I thought we were going to run to school together?” Ayame complained grabbing onto his left arm her strong grip making him wince.
“I told you Ayame that Kagome is the only woman for me. And she is the only one I wish to run with.” Koga said looking Kagome right in the eye.
“Koga there is just one little problem with that delusion you’re having the only one that wants to be your woman is your M-A-T-E.” Kagome spelled out for him before stalking off into the school building. Except that another voice piped up to join the love feast going on.
“Move it ya mangy wolf and keep your ass out of my way.” The voice growled out in a voice that held an equal hate for everyone.
“Shut your yap mutt and get to class on time for once.” Koga shot back glaring at the boy cladded in a red uniform.
“Well if you two could stop bickering for once you both might make it to class on time Koga, Inuyasha.” Kagome said turning and walking through the front entrance.
‘Why was I even fighting with this guy?’ Both boys thought at the same time as they followed Kagome’s lead into the building. Kagome had another thought on her mind. ‘This is going to be a long day.’
