Chapter One: Number 47 - Check!
She really wasn't all that surprised; she had grown quite used to being kidnapped over the years. For a moment she tried to recount her previous abductions, but gave up before she had a proper tally-- the ride was just too bumpy for her to concentrate. And she was beginning to feel seasick, the boundary between earth and sky swimming before her. Closing her eyes she silently cursed the monstrous bear youkai, who had her tucked awkwardly beneath his arm. She had tried to keep track of their course and pick out landmarks, but found it impossible between her captor's lumbering gait and the underbrush whipping across her face. He was faster than his breed usually came, but that's what being in possession of five jewel shards will do for a demon.
Frowning in concentration, Kagome tried to cast out her mind and sense her rescue team. They were undetectable. The distance separating them was to great for her to overcome and until the bear decided to stop and give it a break, she doubted the group would be able to catch up. The fact that her abductor had left three of his sons behind, with two shards apiece, would only serve to keep her isolated longer. She prayed for the safety of her friends and tried to remain composed. Her situation left much to be desired, like a weapon for instance.
She would have to conserve her strength until she could sense her party's imminent arrival. If she loosed her miko powers to early and the demon was able to recover, she may not have a second opportunity to distract him. She would have to use her wits first, then attempt to subdue him long enough for the cavalry to arrive. If she failed, it would most likely be her greatest, and last mistake. Almost as if the youki had sensed her agitation and desire to just get their confrontation started, he slowed upon entering a small clearing. Dumping her to the ground, he pinned her roughly with a heavy paw, its enormous weight severely restricting her capacity to breath. Ensuring that his captive was restrained and that he had her full attention, he commenced the much anticipated and predictable villain's speech. Which Kagome hoped would be long, repetitive, and thorough enough to allow her companions time to reach her. His booming voice echoed through the forest, as he proclaimed his intent to ravage the miko before devouring her body and soul to assimilate her powers and the jewel shards in her possession. 'Oh Yippee!'
With agonizingly slow movements, he placed his dripping muzzle down to rake his teeth gently over Kagome's exposed neck, "If you are compliant, I will allow you time enough to bear me a cub before I consume your body." Gaging on the rancid smell of spoiled meat and from the feel of saliva sliding across her neck, the miko turned her face from the bear and whimpered. She knew she wouldn't be able to hold out much longer, she had to escape. Although she still couldn't sense Inuyasha, she began gathering her power. It coiled inside her like a spring, burning hotter as she concentrated on forming it into a single, decisive attack.
As the beast prepared to straddle her hips, she grabbed onto whatever flesh she could and pumped as much purifying energy into him as her body could channel. The bear roared and hurled the miko from him with terrible force. She felt weightless for a brief second and watched with sickening clarity as the ground rushed up to meet her. She heard loud snap and screamed in agony as her shoulder absorbed the brunt of her impact. Disoriented and hurt she tried to scramble to her feet and run away, but the bear recovered far faster than she was able to. He grabbed her leg, sinking his claws deeply into her thigh. White, hot light exploded behind her eyes, as the bear completely subdued her, shredding her back and blouse with his teeth. She screamed in complete terror and collapsed into dry heaves underneath the monstrous bears weight.
"You will pay in blood from your insolence, bitch!"
Teetering on the edge of consciousness the miko again tried to call forth her power, but was unable to gather the strength to overcome her pain. She felt weightless and knew, in some a small part of her mind, that she should be still be scared. Laughing weakly, she realized that she'd finally finished counting. This was her 47th abduction. 'What a pity, I was hoping to see 50.'
