Deck The Halls:
Kagome hummed the song sadly as she walked the busy malls in Tokyo.
“Deck the Halls with boughs of holly..””
This year would mark her first Christmas without her ex-finacee, Sesshomaru. She still had no idea why he had suddenly and without any warning just up and broke the engagement. Begging for answers had brought forth no answers either.
She glanced enviously at the couples giggling and walking hand in hand. If she could she would just hide in her room until Christmas was over but Mama was insistent they celebrate.
Yippee.
Hopefully she could escape the “festivities” early.
Come They Told Me:
“Come they told me..” Kagome half heartedly sang as she slowly searched through the rack of women’s sweaters. The one her mother wore was getting a bit bedraggled and needed replaced.
She pulled out a soft gold colored one. “This is nice.” She idly thought. “It reminds me of Sesshom…”
Kagome quickly ended that musing and shoved the sweater back and selected a vibrant blue one.
“Damn him..” she muttered fighting back tears. Why did he have to invade her mind all the time? HE had ended it.
It was time to move on.
Let Us Bring Him Silver and Gold:
“Let us bring him silver and gold..” wafted through the air into his ears.
Sesshomaru growled under his breath. “ Idiotic carols..”
Citrine eyes stared coldly at the throngs of people that crowed the Mall walkways. He wished his errand done so he could get back home and away from all the “happy” couples that seemed to be surrounding him.
“You could have been one of those couples, too.” Whispered his mind mockingly.
A sudden pang near his heart sharply reminded him of what he’d done just a few months prior. He still cringed inwardly at the memory of Kagome’s tears.
She would never know he had done it for her.
Mix and A Mingle:
Sesshomaru hurried past the arguing teens, glowering at them as he did so. He couldn’t help but overhear what they wear bickering about.
“You baka!” grumbled the young teen girl, half laughing as she swatted the head of her friend. “The words are “Mix and a Mingle”, not “Mix in Pringles!”
The two reminded him of when Kagome had caught his half brother InuYasha singing a decidedly obscene version of “Jingle Bells” last Christmas.
His little priestess had soundly trounced the hanyou about the room.
He shook his head to clear the memories.
He had to forget her and move forward with what little time he had.
Sentimental Feeling:
Kagome walked around the mall with her bags and wandered around looking into windows. She sighed at the sentimental feelings that washed over her as she remembered last Christmas forays with Sesshomaru.
She turned a corner and collided into a hard body, her instant apology dying upon suddenly trembling lips.
Sesshomaru.
He looked just as shocked to see her as she was him. Her eyes traveled hungrily over his form, stopping with growing horror at his head.
A wig with his long flowing white hair sat tumbled around his shoulders and an ugly scar marred his scalp.
All Is Bright:
Two small angels sat in the tall Christmas tree watching the couple below them. “Rin! That was a great idea to have them crash into each other!” crowed the little red haired angel admiringly.
The little female cherub blushed charmingly at his praise. “It was the only thing I could think of, Shippo.”
The two conspirators gazed down at the estranged couple they had been ordered to bring back together as strains of “Silent Night” played through the air.
“This may be difficult than we thought.” Muttered Shippo as Sesshomaru reached up and haughtily replaced his wig and strode off.
“But HE commanded we do it, Shippo!” cried Rin. “We can’t fail!”
“ HE is a grouchy overlord.” Grumbled the small winged boy. A Christmas light suddenly shattered beside them making them both jump and tremble slightly.
“All right!” Shippo shouted to the ceiling of the mall. “We will try again!”
The Weather Outside Is Frightful:
Kagome hesitated only a moment before going after Sesshomaru. She suddenly felt a small pairs of hands shove her forward into the InuYoukai as he was seemingly shoved backward into her. Once again they collided this time going to the floor the refrain of “Let it Snow” cheerily playing around them.
She grabbed his face when he turned to get up and held him. “I wouldn’t have cared about you having cancer. It was cancer causing your headaches, right?”
He nodded slowly, pained eyes looking into hers. “ The outlook still isn’t good, Kagome.”
“So let’s spend whatever time is left together.” She whispered. A small weight suddenly dropped on her chest. Sesshomaru wonderingly picked it up. It was her engagement ring.
“The season of miracles.” He murmured as he placed it on her finger and kissed her.
You Can Even Say It Glowed:
If anyone could see in the nearby branches of a tall Christmas tree they would have spotted two angels happily dancing around, a golden glow surrounding them.
“We did it! We did It!” the both shouted happily.
They watched with shining eyes at the couple got up from the floor and walked hand in hand, among the other couples who were happily celebrating the season.
“Will he live?” Rin asked suddenly, her eyes solemn.
Shippo nodded with a big grin after mentally asking the High Angel. “He will.”
Rin sagged with relief. “Oh good. Why was it so important that we get them together, Shippo?”
“You didn’t know?!”
At his dear friend’s shake of the head he told her with glee. “We’re to be their kids!”
