The word: Wind

Kagome stood on a cliff overlooking a valley below. A breeze rustled the tree, scattering loose sakura petals into the wind. She sighed as they blew her way, the wind teasing her hair. * I love the wind, it so exciting.* As a kid she loved to dance around in the breeze or lean into a really strong wind. Currently she felt like spinning.

She giggled to herself and twirl in place grasping occasionally at loose the pink petals. On her third twirl in she stopped, and went pale realizing she wasn't alone.

Sesshoumaru raised a fine brow to the odd woman. "Miko....What are you doing?"

"Nothing really." She replied as she fiddled with her hands behind her. Kagome smiled sheepishly. "I was on my way back from helping out a neighboring town and got a little lost. So, I decided a high view might help me spot my path."

Sesshoumaru wanted to roll his eyes. " Why isn't the half-breed with you?" It had been a year since her return, and while he hadn't seen much progression in their relationship, the few views that he did see on his visits to Rin, he couldn't imagine his half-brother outright leaving her.

Her eyes dropped from his. " Ah, well he's been busy."

"Busy?" * Too busy to watch over the miko who really didn't know this era?* He was surprised, though he didn't show it.

"Well, there's someone back at Edo that needed him to stay." Kagome straightened and lifted her head with a stubborn look. "Not that I need him with me. I'm perfectly capable on my own."

A small smirk played his lips. "I see. Didn't you say you're lost."

Kagome huffed. *Is he teasing me?!* "Well not anymore! I came up and found my path." She turned and pointed over the cliff at a path. Turning her head back she beamed. "See!"

He just nodded his head. *Still though, who could need Inuyasha enough that he abandon her.* Then he remember a girl that he had spotted with them occasionally.  Another memory surfaced when he spotted the hanyou talking alone with the girl, at the time he thought nothing of it.

His eyes soften, and he watch the woman child lift her arm and let her hand play in a particularly strong gust. *What fool gives up a treasure as her? She openly accepted him from the start.* He voiced his epiphany. "So the hanyou has found another."

She left her hand half raised to let the wind brush against it, soothing her. " Yep. Looks like it." She turned and smiled lightly at him. "We ended up not working out together after all. And he found he liked someone who was less stubborn."

Slight surprise did manage to leek through his mask.  Her stubborn and fiery nature was one of reasons he himself respected her.  * So he likes his woman dull and complacent.* He thought with distaste. His next thoughts left his mouth without him realizing it. "He is a fool to let you go."

She was left shocked, and a light blush dusted her cheeks. "Thank you." It meant a lot coming from him. *Even if it's just a jab at his brother.*

In attempt to keep a odd silence from forming she spoke up. "Well, I guess I should head back. Are you visiting Rin again?"

He nodded. " I planned on stopping by. As this Sesshoumaru is in no rush, I will accompany you back." He stated.

*Well gee thanks! Probably doesn't trust me to get back on my own.* Kagome sighed, " The company is appreciated." With that they started walking, he inquire about the village in general, and she filled him in on what she knew.

" And I managed to get the majority of the herb that Kaede needs for the winter. Oh!" Kagome looked over slightly excited tone in her voice. " Rin's become really good with herbs and helped in another birth last week."

"Hn." He was happy his ward was getting along well in the village. His thoughts turned back towards the miko. "Kagome?" This got her attention, and he wanted to smirk at the blush that formed.

*It sounded so sexy coming from him.* She thought distractedly, that she almost missed what he said next.

"Do you have an obligation to the village?"

Kagome blink. *Not a question I was expecting.* "Not really. It's just acts like my home town."

"hn." He seemed to think on her response a moment, making her wonder why he asked. "Then would you like to travel with this Sesshoumaru?"

She nearly lost her footing. "T-travel with you?"

He nodded.

Kagome thought a minute and came to a conclusion. * Well why not. This is a golden opportunity to get away, and have a bit more adventure in life again.* "Sure! That would be ....wonderful."

He smirked. "Eager to leave the village."

She sighed. " Well, it isn't exactly exciting right now. And the travel could do me some good."

" Yes, maybe it will help sharpen your directional skill."

To which she scowled. Then shook her head and smile. " That too."

He glanced at her giddy face, and smiled to himself. *Yes, it might be good for the both of us. * His thoughts turning to his brother. *If he won't try for her, then I will.*

Kagome was in her own thoughts. * As Grandpa said. Like the wind, life is always changing, sometime in a bad way, and sometimes for the better. But it depends how far you'll let it blow you.* Kagome glance at the dog demon. * And I think I'll enjoy this ride.*
